So-called non-manifestation, there is not even a little of other substances. Because it is only observing the transformation and non-transformation of body and speech caused by commitment and Dharma nature. That observer is formless. It is not characterized, because it is observing form. There are many things that can be said about non-manifestation, let's put aside the excessive elaboration here for now. The clear definition here will be done later. How to explain that name and form are themselves has already been explained. Why are the five aggregates established as name and form themselves? Because it is to show that most children develop arrogance towards these two as having a body and the manifestation of the body. The name mentioned earlier is because it grasps form. In this way, it grasps it as me and mine. Even if it is abandoned, it will be tamed. Depending on it, it will also engage in various actions. Without it, like the same kind, it will not manifest accomplishment. Without form, it will not be accomplished invisibly in the formless. Relying on the continuum of name, it will take the continuum of form that has not appeared before in other similar kinds. The continuum of form will not take the continuum of name that has not appeared before. If the form born from the four great elements of earth, water, fire, and wind, how does it become the condition of consciousness? If the four great elements and the form dependent on the four great elements arise depending on the consciousness that is completely matured by karma, then what contradiction is there here? When it arises without difference from the four great elements, it is called born from the four great elements, because there is grasping of it, taking it away, and grasping of it when it is completely transformed, and so on. If the cause of consciousness, name is temporarily numerous in kind, then how do different characteristics arise from consciousness? This is a refutation of the irrefutable, because it is also proven from the world and the scriptures that results also arise from causes of different characteristics. For the time being, in the world, pleasure and pain arise from the two, sense and object, collision produces sound, horns produce reeds, fire and wood produce smoke, stones

From fire and water, fire arises; from the power of the Naga's mind, water and so on arise. In the scriptures, it is said that the sons of Shakya can also arise from the formless. From the distinctions of samadhi arise the names and ears of gods. From the mind of emanation arises emanation. From those who hold the power of wind and delight in manifesting playfulness arise wind and rain, and so on. From the power of the Naga's mind arises water. From form, the formless arises, such as from the eyes and so on arise the five aggregates of consciousness, possessing equal characteristics. From dissimilar characteristics, things can also arise, such as from virtue and non-virtue arises the unspecified, and from the specified also arise birth and non-virtue. From non-attachment arises attachment, and from attachment also arises non-attachment, and so on. In the scriptures of the Samkhya school, it is said that from the non-self-nature of the "Great" or the thought of "I," arise sound, touch, taste, form, and smell. The Vaisheshika school also believes that from two dissimilar kinds, substance and action, qualities arise, and from substance and qualities, action arises. From the combination of self, senses, and mental objects arise pleasure and pain, and so on. In the Mahabharata, it is said that from the mind of Brahma arise those called the "Seven Sons." In the Vedas, it is also said that Prajapati, without desire, created beings, and exhausted by his tapas, he emanated. This is because emanation possesses both desire and the nature of tapas. Therefore, since these are widely known in the world and in the scriptures, they are irrefutable. If it is said that the result arises from a cause with dissimilar characteristics, then why does everything not arise from everything? By those very examples, it is established that while the result arises from a cause with dissimilar characteristics, it does not mean that everything arises from everything. Since these are established, what need is there to question further? According to the nature of phenomena, whatever things have different natures, they have different capacities. Therefore, both of these are irrefutable. Here, there is a fault in both cause and effect, in terms of certainty and uncertainty. If name and form arise solely from the cause of consciousness, then from the arising of joy, the aggregate of form should also arise.
