I, due to the power of ignorance, do not cultivate virtue and commit non-virtue. Pride is the arrogance of thinking oneself superior to those who are inferior in terms of lineage, knowledge, wealth, etc., or the arrogance of thinking oneself equal to those who are equal in terms of lineage, etc. Over-pride is the arrogance of thinking oneself superior to those who are equal in terms of lineage and knowledge, etc., in terms of generosity, discipline, and skills, or the arrogance of thinking oneself equal to those who are superior in terms of lineage and wealth, etc. Pride-over-pride is the arrogance of thinking oneself superior even to those who are superior in terms of lineage, etc. Ego-pride is the arrogance of clinging to the aggregates of appropriation, which are devoid of self and what belongs to self, as self and what belongs to self. Conceit is the arrogance of thinking oneself only slightly inferior to those who are far superior in terms of lineage, knowledge, and wealth, etc. False pride is the arrogance of thinking oneself to have attained special qualities, such as fruition and meditation, which one has not attained. Wrong pride is the arrogance of thinking oneself to possess qualities when one does not possess them. "By all the near afflictions" means not only not associating with the near afflictions mentioned above, but also not associating with other near afflictions such as distraction, lack of mindfulness, regret, and sleep. This is the concluding statement. "Arising from attachment, hatred, and ignorance," etc., shows that one does not dwell together with afflictions. Attachment is clinging to and desiring existence and the enjoyment of existence. Hatred is universally harming sentient beings, and due to its power, one commits acts such as killing and binding sentient beings. Ignorance is not knowing the relationship between the causes and effects of the lower realms, the higher realms, and nirvana, and the causes for attaining them, in a non-reversed way. Arising means that those afflictions manifest when the causes and conditions for their arising come together, which is also because the object is near and one has improper attention. Those afflictions also.
