, and the absence of manifest clinging to the nature of signs shows proper attention. For example, individual beings, with consciousness, discriminate various aspects of the conceptually constructed form, and do not cling to its nature in that way. Therefore, it is called consciousness not abiding in form. It is explained similarly for the remaining aggregates such as feeling. That is because, relying on words of meaning, etc., proper attention does not rely on words, persons, consciousness, and the scriptures that guide meaning, but is a collective term for relying on the four reliances individually. On the other hand, proper attention is a word of reason, and all mentions of definitive words are connected and explained as synonyms for the definitive words that fully establish the suchness of all dharmas, without being connected to proper attention. Therefore, in conclusion, it is said that proper attention is all dharmas. Because in the selflessness of persons and the selflessness of dharmas, proper attention means that, since it is not unpervasive of all dharmas, proper attention is said to be all dharmas. In terms of showing the result, it is said, "Why is it?" etc. Therefore, "Why is it?" is a question of the reason why all dharmas are proper attention. Like the selflessness of self, etc., from the aspect of showing proper seeing and practice, it shows that all dharmas are proper attention. The so-called self is one's own aggregates of grasping, just as there is selflessness of the nature of persons and dharmas in it, if one sees all dharmas such as aggregates, elements, and sense bases with the reason of the three valid cognitions or the three wisdoms, or just as there is selflessness of sentient beings, if one sees that all dharmas such as aggregates, elements, and sense bases are also selfless, then with proper seeing, all dharmas are established as proper attention. The proper attention of the realm of samsara is the nature of samsara, just as the proper attention of the realm of nirvana is completely pure, if one sees that the nature of samsara is also completely pure, this is the collective term. In short,

In short, the nature of afflictions is desire and so on, because they produce various things that are harmful to body and mind. Purification is the aspect of enlightenment and the pāramitās, because they are the antidote to destroying afflictions. Both the unfavorable side and the antidote are the same in their inexpressible nature, and seeing that there is no difference in ultimate truth, just as saying the unfavorable side and the antidote, is called proper application of mind. In this way, since both are the same in being inexpressible, one does not think of the purified dharma as having qualities, nor does one think of the universally afflicted dharma as having faults, this is called proper application of mind. The Venerable Sharadvatiputra's words, "In short," and so on, indicate the place where the Bodhisattva focuses on and relies upon all such proper applications of mind. "How many proper applications of mind" means how many aspects of proper engagement there are, or how many actions there are. The place of all of these is sentient beings, which means that the support and object of focus for these proper applications are sentient beings. In this way, the Bodhisattva, out of great compassion for sentient beings, cultivates these proper applications of mind in order to fully embrace them, or in the manner of seeing all dharmas with reason, just as sentient beings are without self, and so on, he applies proper application of mind to the object of sentient beings, this is its summary. In this way, relying on sentient beings through the power of great compassion, does the fact of having an object not disturb the realm of dharma? In response to this, it is said that he does not abandon the state of sentient beings, nor does he disturb the place of dharma. It means that the Bodhisattva does not abandon the state of sentient beings, that is, birth in samsara, nor does he disturb the place of dharma, that is, the source of the qualities of strength and fearlessness, the pure realm of dharma and non-conceptual wisdom. Even though he abides in samsara for the benefit of sentient beings, he will not fall away from these two, this is its summary. The wisdom of...
