Between is the word of peace. Since there is no elaboration of contemplating various kinds of discordant parties and opposing dharmas, it is the word of no elaboration. How does one not contemplate? It is said that there is no lifting up and no placing down. Because there is no lifting up and removing the adventitious dharma of all afflictions, and there is no newly adding and placing down the self-nature of the mind, which is luminosity, one realizes it as it is. The five aggregates, the eighteen realms, the twelve sense bases, etc., however many there are, and those themselves are also impermanent and suffering, etc., all that exists as it is, and without being inverted, one realizes it as it is, therefore it is the word of no measure. Grasping at the non-existent things such as self as existent, and measuring them as objects of knowledge is superfluous, not measuring like that as it is, therefore it is without superfluity. Removing and discarding is throwing outwards, since knowing as it is is the essence of everything, it cannot be done that way, therefore it is unremovable. What is inconsistent with reality, grasping at impermanence as permanence, etc., is hostile, since this has abandoned them, therefore it is without hostility. One who has entered the path of the supreme vehicle understands the selflessness of persons and dharmas as it is, and is even more supreme than the supreme ones such as hearers and solitary buddhas, therefore it is the word of the supreme. The so-called "word of only this" is the teaching. The remaining four are explanations, abiding constantly in suchness and not being destroyed, therefore it is suchness, without being mistaken and inverted, therefore it is un mistaken suchness, without changing into something else, therefore it is non-other suchness, being the self-nature of all dharmas, therefore it is called as it is, for truly attending to the mind that knows the perfectly established characteristics of all dharmas is also called that. Or, only this, etc., are words that are synonyms for the sphere of reality, therefore in the Sutra of the Jewel Cloud it says: The Bodhisattva prays by dispelling all obscurations, "Bhagavan, what is called 'only this'?" The Bhagavan replied: "Son of good family, for example, the so-called 'only this' is the true."

The supreme words of meaning. Question: Blessed One, what is meant by "true"? The Blessed One said: Whatever is thusness, non-erroneous thusness, and non-other thusness, that is true. Question: Blessed One, what is meant by "thusness"? The Blessed One said: Son of good family, these dharmas are known individually by oneself. They cannot be expressed by letters. Why? Because these dharmas are far beyond all letters, far beyond all expressions, far beyond all realms of speech, far beyond all paths of speech, free from all elaborations, free from all openings and closings, free from all discriminations, not the realm to be measured by all discriminations, because they are without characteristics, they completely transcend all realms of characteristics, far beyond the realm of children, far beyond the realm of all demons, far beyond the realm of all afflictions, far beyond the realm of all consciousness, non-abiding, non-non-abiding, the realm of the wisdom of the peaceful noble ones. These are to be known individually by oneself, immaculate, initial, pure, excellent, constant, firm, perpetually abiding, and indestructible dharmas. Whether the Tathagatas appear or do not appear, the nature of the dharma realm abides. Therefore, the definite attainment of enlightenment is not in vain, because one attains enlightenment properly, it is a word of non-vanity. Truth itself is thusness, the ultimate of non-inversion, therefore it is a word of ultimate truth. Not perceiving the former limit, the latter limit, and the presently arising three times as self, therefore truly seeing the three times, it is called the word of equality of the three times. How is it equal? It is said that time is completely uninterrupted. Because the aggregates of conditioned dharmas, etc., are only established as three times from the perspective of arising, abiding, and ceasing, but for the nature of perfect accomplishment, there is no such distinction. Because consciousness does not abide on form, etc., therefore one is not attached to the conditioned dharmas of the three times, or one does not
