Why is that? The meditation of Bodhisattvas does not sever the lineage of the Three Jewels. By "constantly abiding" and so on, it shows the distinction of being undiminished and pure, meaning that it is undiminished by constantly abiding in all situations such as walking and sitting, meaning that it is undiminished in all conduct. By "in order to perfect all the Buddha's teachings" and so on, it shows abiding in the distinction of wisdom, meaning that by engaging in order to perfect powers and fearlessness and so on, the meditation of Bodhisattvas is the wisdom that controls all dharmas, meaning that it possesses the wisdom that controls the Buddha's teachings, which is a synonymous term. By "because the nature of wisdom is great" and so on, it shows possessing the great nature of ultimate perfection, meaning that the greatness of the nature of wisdom is the greatness of the power of wisdom. Thus, because of possessing the son, the meditation of Bodhisattvas is pervasive like the sky, meaning that it is unobstructed and unattached like the sky, which is a synonymous term. If those sixteen pure meditations are not even possessed by Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, how much less so by worldly people? By showing this, it is expressing the greatness of the nature of the Bodhisattva's meditation. Having made the fruit of extremely cultivated meditation the power of purity, it is said, "Among them, what is completely cultivated meditation?" and so on. What is called completely cultivated meditation is the complete cultivation of meditation, meaning that it is what is cultivated as the fruit of a workable mind. What is that itself? It is said, "It is said to be the perfection of clairvoyance and wisdom," meaning that the perfections of clairvoyance and wisdom, such as those mentioned below, are the fruit of a workable mind. The five sets of words beginning with "By what does one see all visible forms?" show, in order, the divine eye, the divine ear, knowing the minds of others, remembering past lives, and the clairvoyance of miraculous powers. The three sets of words after that show the exhaustion of defilements.
