Thus, the qualities of not diminishing one's own and others' benefits are shown. There are three aspects: the Blessed One's equality of all dharmas is the complete and perfect enlightenment, etc., showing the eight qualities of the Buddha, the Blessed One. What are the eight? They are: the perfection of one's own benefit, the perfection of others' benefit, the perfection of retinue, the perfection of power, the perfection of skillful means, the perfection of taming, the perfection of accomplishing activities, and the perfection of the blessings of the power of a man. The eight words of the sutra are applied in order. The great Sangha of monks of sixty hundred thousand monks, etc., explains the perfection of the Blessed One's retinue. The retinue is also of two types: the retinue of Shravakas and the retinue of Bodhisattvas. Among them, from "deeply entered into the teachings of the Tathagata" up to "deeply believed," the perfection of the Shravaka retinue is shown. From then on, the perfection of the Bodhisattva retinue is shown. Among them, sixty hundred thousand monks, showing a definite number, is also because when the compilers previously heard this sutra from the Blessed One, long-lived beings such as gods and nagas also resided in that retinue, and later, when this sutra was compiled, they also resided there. In order not to be confused by this definite number, it can serve as a sign, and it is spoken for the sake of making later people believe. Bhikshu, in this context, refers to one who has destroyed afflictions. Sangha refers to those who are consistent in views and conduct, and are not shaken by other views. Great also refers to those who have attained the fruits of stream-enterer, etc. Secondly, because they have destroyed afflictions, they are called great. All are endowed with intelligent minds, which refers to the eight qualities of an intelligent horse, namely, the quality of being tamed, which makes the stake stable; the quality of not being unruly, not harming companions with food, etc.; the quality of lineage, born from a good breed of horse and land; the quality of mind, not being attached to food in the intermediate state before reaching the destination, but on the road.

To strive to completely destroy all the connections caused by the habits of afflictions means to strive to destroy the afflictions such as greed, which are the cause of the connection that leads to the taking of aggregates in the next life. Called the son of the Tathagata Dharma King, Tathagata means to understand all Dharmas without inversion, and by understanding in this way, one can obtain freedom over all Dharmas, which is the Dharma King. Because it comes from his teachings, it is the son. Being skilled in dwelling in the profound Buddha Dharma means being skilled in the profound meaning of the Buddha Dharma, which is the absence of self in the individual and the emptiness of dependent origination.
