It is the ground of non-returning. Having completely conquered all the enemies of afflictions in the three realms, or having become worthy of offerings in the three realms, hence it is called Arhat. Not working for the benefit of many sentient beings, but only achieving enlightenment for oneself, and cultivating Nirvana, hence it is called Pratyekabuddha. The Bodhisattva who, having attained the fourth ground of practice through faith and the uninterrupted Samadhi, will definitely appear in a hundred kalpas, is called a Bodhisattva. It is because the first countless kalpas are named as a hundred kalpas. From where should we start counting the beginningless cycle of existence, and begin the countless kalpas? It is said: "The power of goodness and aspiration, the steadfast mind and extraordinary conduct, the countless three Bodhisattvas, are said to always engage in this." As it is said. Goodness is virtue. Aspiration is prayer, and whoever possesses these two is called the one with the power of goodness and aspiration. Among them, the one with the power of the root of virtue is because they are not overcome by opposing forces. The one with the power of aspiration is because they always encounter virtuous friends. The one with a steadfast mind is because they do not abandon the mind of enlightenment even when their faith is turned away by unwholesome friends. Extraordinary conduct is because in this life and the next, virtuous dharmas increase and do not diminish. Thus, when the root of virtue, the power of aspiration, and the steadfast mind are uninterrupted and irreversible, and extraordinary conduct, that is, not being content with a small amount of merit, from that time onwards, one engages in the three countless kalpas. The one who has attained the first ground, the Extremely Joyful Ground, is called the Bodhisattva who has attained forbearance, because they have abandoned the attachment to persons and phenomena, and have attained excellent forbearance in the meaning of emptiness. The one who has attained the eighth ground, the Immovable Ground, is called the irreversible Bodhisattva, because they have abandoned all conceptual thoughts such as signs and signlessness, and do not regress from it. The one who is bound by one lifetime has already been explained in the introduction. Sitting under the Bodhi tree is not the actual attainment of enlightenment, but sitting under the Bodhi tree for the sake of manifesting enlightenment. The wisdom of knowing what is and is not the place, means with virtue
