After seeing the departed, as stated in the sutras, understanding the behavior of a single sentient being's mind, etc., even if the time is long and the fruit is difficult to achieve, not retreating is inexhaustible armor. In order to perfect the perfection of generosity, with this entry and this counting, as mentioned before, add days and nights to months. Adding months to years, generating one Bodhicitta in a hundred thousand years, seeing one Tathagata. Just like that, all Bodhicittas are generated. After seeing all the Tathagatas, serving the Tathagatas as numerous as the sands of the Ganges in this way, the perfection of generosity is fulfilled. Similarly, from the remaining perfections to all the marks and signs, with the length of time as mentioned before, and striving with difficulty to achieve, without being discouraged, this is called inexhaustible armor. Inexhaustible asceticism is also shown in eight ways, how is asceticism practiced? As it is said, even if the three thousand great thousand world realms are filled with fire, one does not retreat. Why asceticism? Because one is happy to see, hear, and practice. Being happy to see the Tathagata, and being happy to hear the Dharma, these two show the first two. Being happy to practice is also for the benefit of others and oneself, that is, being happy to practice in order to fully mature sentient beings, and being happy to practice for all virtuous dharmas and omniscient wisdom, these three show the latter three. The definitive meaning is that the asceticism of a Bodhisattva is to enter for the benefit of others, etc., shown in a sequence of three words. How does one enter for the benefit of others? As it is said, in order to pacify others, etc., as it is said, in order to pacify afflictions, in order to subdue the senses, and in order to completely liberate from all cycles of existence, even if the land is filled with fire, one does not retreat, because one enters, therefore it is called asceticism. The nature of diligence is, as it is said, not being lazy, etc., respectfully.

Having diligence, therefore not懈怠. Regarding accomplishing excellent qualities, not thinking that one cannot do it, therefore not discouraged. Not being moved by the laziness of unfavorable factors, therefore it is steadfast. Not being moved by suffering such as cold and heat, therefore it is irreversible. The so-called intention is referring to the virtuous intention. At all times seeking and practicing what is virtuous, initiating diligence with such intention. The so-called cause is abiding in great compassion. Generating great compassion for the benefit of sentient beings, with such cause one can accomplish, this is its definition. The activity of diligence is constantly dedicating oneself to the benefit of sentient beings, so it is said. Being grasped by skillful means and wisdom is indicated by "putting down the foot" and so on. In all actions such as putting down the foot, the Bodhicitta is manifested. Observing sentient beings indicates skillful means, not falling into the side of afflictions indicates wisdom. Real accomplishment is not wasting, and accomplishing without being inverted. No matter in what way virtuous thoughts arise and occur, whether it is the three wisdoms or the six perfections etc., all the virtuous thoughts that arise are completely dedicated to Bodhi, so that it will not be exhausted midway, therefore it is called real accomplishment, not being exhausted. Having dedicated like this, why is it not exhausted? Then asking "Why is this?", answering "Because it is completely dedicated to Bodhi". In order to illustrate this point with a metaphor, it is said "For example, venerable Sharadvatiputra, like a drop of water falling into the great ocean" and so on. Regarding dedicating the roots of virtue to Bodhi, why is it said to be real accomplishment? Answering "Therefore it is said to be real accomplishment, which refers to this real accomplishment". If accomplished in this way, is it called real accomplishment? Answering "Really entering" etc., meaning that those who really accomplish virtuous roots and are diligent, are in order to save all sentient beings who have fallen into evil destinies, and to make all immature sentient beings conform to the decisive part
