Equanimity is being free from subsequent attachment, anger, and so on. Regarding the discipline of the nature of reality, it is said, "The son of the monk Sharadvati, also," etc., which refers to the characteristic of selflessness in both persons and phenomena. Among these, the selflessness of persons is indicated by "that to which no imputation of self is made," and so on. The selflessness of phenomena is indicated by "that to which no form is imputed," and so on. To the extent that names are imputed to self and phenomena, these are imputations. The inexpressible nature of reality, to which no name or symbol is assigned, is called the discipline of the nature of reality, because the nature of reality is its very nature. Regarding the discipline of the two paths, it is said, "Because it is one-pointed," and so on. One-pointedness is a single object of focus. Since that is the characteristic of all calm abiding, because it is one-pointed, that characteristic of all calm abiding is called discipline. Being skilled in thoroughly distinguishing the individual and general characteristics of all phenomena is the characteristic of all insight. Regarding the discipline of the three doors of liberation, it is said, "Understanding emptiness," and so on. The discipline is the very understanding of phenomena as the mode of the three doors of liberation. Regarding the profound discipline that is the complete purification of the opposing factors of discipline, it is said, "That which is not manifestly assembled," and so on. The discipline that is not manifestly assembled by karma and afflictions, and which arises from comprehending that phenomena are unborn, is therefore the complete separation of the unborn. And what is that? It is endurance of non-arising, thus combining the words. Non-action is the opposing factor of discipline. Non-doing is the complete purification of discipline, because it has already been practiced, so there is no further meaning of doing. Alternatively, not manifestly assembled is due to causes and conditions. Not done and not to be done refers to self and agent, etc., in the past and future tenses. By not appearing at the previous end, etc., it means not appearing in the past tense, not moving to the future tense, and not abiding in the present tense.

That which transcends the three times is taught as discipline. The mind without defilement is the teaching. How is it without defilement? It is explained in two sentences: because consciousness does not dwell in afflictions, and because it is not mixed with the mind that grasps and is grasped. That which does not rely on the desire realm, etc., means not relying on the qualities of desire, not experiencing the taste of the samadhi of the form realm, and even if one attains the formless attainments, one is not born or stays there, this is said to be discipline. That which is without the dust of desire, etc., shows that it is the discipline that is free from the three poisons, because desire itself, like dust, obstructs the attainment of liberation, so it is the dust of desire. Harmful intent is the characteristic of karma, and it itself is also a fault and a defect. Anger is an affliction, the two should be distinguished. Ignorance of the karma and fruits of the three times is the darkness of ignorance and unknowing. Things that arise and do not perish are permanent. Arising and perishing and not being reborn is annihilation. Without these two, that which is in accordance with dependent origination is discipline. The explanation of not dwelling in the view of the perishable aggregate is that there is no self-grasping and the abandonment of grasping at what is mine. The explanation of not being mixed with name and form is, in order, not being attached to name and designation, and not dwelling in the nature of form, as it is said. For example, the designations such as Devadatta (ལྷ་སྦྱིན་, देवदत्त,devadatta,Given by the gods) and Datta (མཆོད་སྦྱིན་, दत्त,datta,Given) are names. Devadatta possessing qualities, etc., is a designation. The nature of form is obstructive form, etc. Alternatively, name and form refer to the five aggregates. The so-called seed's latency is because the cause of the arising of all entanglements such as views is the latency of the seed. The explanation of extreme pliancy is that there is no displeasure and no complete suffering, that is, the mind has no displeasure, the body has no complete suffering, and the very ability to function is the characteristic of extreme pliancy. The so-called Dharmakaya does not cut off the Buddha lineage
