For the sake of sentient beings, one would even give up one's own body and life, Then, for one's own benefit, how could one kill the lives of other sentient beings? Therefore, one does not harm all sentient beings; one also gives one's own possessions to others, so how could one take others' possessions without giving? Therefore, one does not steal others' possessions; in order to practice pure conduct in all lifetimes, one can even give one's own wife to sentient beings who desire her, so how could one be attached to other people's wives? Therefore, one is not attached to other people's wives; Bodhisattvas act as they speak. They speak in accordance with their actions, not saying one thing and doing another, so they do not deceive all sentient beings; in order to make others' retinues their own, they do not take matters from here and tell them there, or take matters from there and tell them here, so they are content with their own retinues and are not divisive; because they do not speak ill of others, nor do they speak words of slander based on lineage and so on, they are not rude by enduring harsh words; they do not speak meaningless words such as the talk of kings and the talk of thieves, because they avoid idle talk, they do not speak frivolous words; Bodhisattvas wish others to have the happiness of possessions, and they rejoice in the happiness of others, so they are not greedy to make others' possessions their own; by enduring words of immediate slander and secret slander, they have no intention to harm; because they do not believe in the teachings of other teachers such as non-Buddhists, they have the correct view. Abandoning the ten non-virtuous actions, these show the return from evil deeds. How does one not believe in the teachings of other teachers? Because there is no impurity in the mind, it is shown by faith in the Buddha and so on. To not believe and to doubt whether the Tathagata dwells in the world or not is like turbid water, which is called impurity in the mind. There is no such doubt. Because there is no impurity in the mind, it is called faith in the Buddha. Just like a wish-fulfilling jewel, because there is no impurity of doubt in the mind, one does not believe in the teachings of other teachers. All conditioned and unconditioned phenomena are indescribable Dharma.

That Dharma is established without being contradicted by any valid means, and is called faith in the Holy Dharma. All the noble assemblies refer to the eight types of individuals, such as those who have entered the stream, and Bodhisattvas who abide in the stage of practice with aspiration. Rejoicing and having faith in them is called faith in the Sangha. The Lama, Khenpo, and Acharya, etc., showing respect to them with the body and speaking truthfully with the speech is to serve the teacher with great respect. This, together with prostrating to the Three Jewels with the five limbs and showing great respect with the body, are the means to develop faith. Those five sentences show that oneself is fit to be a vessel of the noble precepts. Seeing even the slightest fault as fearful means seeing even the most minor of the objects of training as the cause of bad rebirths. Because of seeing it as fearful, it is called not relaxing the discipline. As it is said in the Holy Cloud Jewel Sutra: Even a small amount of poison can cause a great person to die. Likewise, even a small sin can cause one to fall into a bad rebirth, and a great sin can also cause one to fall into a bad rebirth. This is for the sake of accomplishing that. Not showing to other vehicles means not thinking or cultivating other vehicles, and not dedicating to them. Because one has not abandoned one's own nature, it is called the discipline not being broken. What is the discipline not being broken? It means not being born in the three bad realms, etc., and therefore abandoning fearful births, which is called the discipline not being broken. Not mixing with causes that would destroy the discipline, such as unruly people, is called the discipline not being mixed. Not mixing with the stains of defiled discipline, and the white dharmas such as the aspects of enlightenment increasing in one direction, is called the discipline not being defiled. Those five sentences show abandoning the unfavorable side. Because of being familiar with the power of individual discernment and the power of meditation, one is not controlled by the afflictions that would destroy the discipline and by bad friends, and one goes as one wishes, which is called the noble discipline. The wise are the noble ones, etc. By remembering how one took the discipline, one protects the discipline without losing it, and the faults associated with afflictions, and the faults without afflictions, etc.
