Attacking with base methods means perceiving that those people think, "This person has benefited me." Harming means creating obstacles for the sake of future lives. Becoming perverse means entering a wrong path, and placing them on the correct path, therefore it is truth. Doing well means doing good. Another's mistake means doing another's wrong. Entering wrongly means engaging in non-virtue, and turning them back from non-virtue, therefore it is all-protecting. Practicing skillful virtue means practicing virtue through rejoicing and being skilled in dedication, etc., and not seeing them as faults. The object of giving is a person with qualities, and serving them with gain and respect. Following instruction means showing, "Do this! Don't do this!" and acting as instructed, therefore it is holding in harmony. With advice, one should understand the thoughts and latent tendencies, etc., of the other person, and apply it to meditating on the antidote of unattractiveness or love, etc. Following instruction means showing the path that transcends the world, and accomplishing it as instructed, therefore it is a reassuring teaching. One always helps those who live in monasteries, and bows down to show respect. One is not attached to the gains of Dharma robes, etc., and the respect of prostrations, etc., and the verses of praise, therefore one does not seek their meaning. One does not care for body and life in order to seek the sacred Dharma and benefit sentient beings. Because of the purity of superior intention, in order to make the afflicted mind believe that there are qualities, there is no pretense of changing behavior. Because of restraining speech, one does not speak of one's own qualities with an afflicted mind, or in the manner of teaching, one does not universally use flattering words with gentle speech. Forcibly demanding means measuring by gain. The mind is not afflicted, which means it is free from bad states and can abide in one-pointedness, therefore it is workable. Although one has turned one's back on samsara through the power of wisdom, one still accumulates all the roots of merit and virtue for being born in samsara, therefore one is inclined towards samsara. Because one has vowed to do the benefit of all sentient beings, therefore it is

When doing things for the benefit of sentient beings, one does not care about all the suffering, internal and external. Therefore, as it is said: "Thinking of difficulty or ease, abandoning all kinds of discrimination, you personally promised that these beings are pitiful." In order to show that the cause is inexhaustible, therefore, the superior intentions of those noble beings are all inexhaustible, and so on. Giving, discipline, and so on, all that is counted as merit, are fully revealed, causing them to grow and mature, and all limitless sentient beings are nourished, becoming nourishment. With this superior intention, the inexhaustible omniscient wisdom is perfectly accomplished, and because of these three pure causes, it cannot be exhausted by all the afflictions of samsara. The inexhaustible superior intention has been explained. A Bodhisattva who abides in the Dharma has six qualities: doing all beneficial Dharmas, acting according to the Dharma, protecting and following the Dharma, being diligent in the Dharma, being unshakable in the Dharma, and not declining from the Dharma. In order to show these, the Venerable Shariputra then said to the Bodhisattva Inexhaustible Wisdom: "Son of good family, does the inexhaustibility of the Bodhisattvas depend on others?" and so on, extensively explaining the six paramitas. The six paramitas show the perfection of accomplishing the benefit of oneself and others. Giving, discipline, and patience show the perfection of accomplishing the benefit of others. Samadhi and wisdom show the perfection of accomplishing the benefit of oneself. Diligence shows that it helps both. These are inexhaustible, and it should also be known that they arise from the cause of generating Bodhicitta, intention and action, and the inexhaustible superior intention. Alternatively, generating Bodhicitta and so on, these actions of the Bodhisattva, are dedicated to unsurpassed Bodhi, practiced for the sake of all sentient beings, practiced as a cause for realizing the inexhaustible suchness of all Dharmas, and for obtaining the inexhaustible non-abiding Nirvana.
