Generosity of wealth perfects the pāramitās of ethics and patience. Generosity of Dharma perfects the pāramitās of diligence, meditation, and wisdom. Holding all births with ethics means that the maturation of pure ethics is certain to be born in the heavens, but due to the power of skillful means, in order to accomplish the benefit of sentient beings, not only is one born in the heavens, but one also appears in all births. Skillful means means that patience is for the sake of enlightenment. By possessing patience, the body is beautiful, the speech is pleasant, and the mind is gentle. When other sentient beings see and hear the pleasing body, speech, and mind, they will generate faith and arouse the mind of enlightenment, which is also for the sake of enlightenment. It is called the continuum of body, speech, and mind. Diligence in entering and abiding is called diligence. Diligence in entering and diligence in abiding are combined with the two words of diligence. Among them, diligence in entering is the initial arising of the root of virtue, which is the cause of enlightenment. Diligence in abiding is the ultimate perfection of the root of virtue that has already arisen. Knowing to turn back from meditation with meditation means that although one has been born in higher realms of meditation, one takes birth in the desire realm due to the power of skillful means. Wisdom abandoning the unconditioned means that although wisdom realizes the unconditioned, it is not abiding in the realm of the unconditioned and also does conditioned activities because it is held by skillful means. Loving-kindness is the protection of those without support, which means that seeing the suffering of experiencing the lower realms and liberation is the state of being without support. Making them the protection of obtaining the happiness of birth and liberation is skillful means. Not blaming samsara with compassion means that with the compassion that pacifies the suffering of sentient beings, even though samsara is a place of suffering, one does not blame it, which is skillful means. Not distinguishing between joy and displeasure with joy means that one is joyful with the joy of the Dharma, and the nature of samsara is suffering and displeasure, but one does not care about it due to the power of skillful means, which is skillful means. With equanimity, the root of virtue and all accumulations increase.

Moreover, one does not utilize anything of the nature of abandonment. By the power of skillful means, even in the state of abandonment, one does not abandon abandonment, and one does not abandon the practice that increases the roots of virtue, merit, and wisdom. The so-called obtaining the Buddha's eye with the divine eye means that a Bodhisattva obtaining the Buddha's eye with the divine eye is also a skillful means, and the same applies to the rest. The so-called skillful means is entering the thoughts of sentient beings, which means that knowing how the thoughts and predispositions of sentient beings are is skillful means. The so-called skillful means is fully understanding the nature of conduct, like this, because one understands the thoughts of sentient beings, one understands the conduct of sentient beings' afflictions such as desire, whether great or small, which is skillful means. Transcending and then entering means that even though one has reached the higher realms through meditation and so on, by the power of skillful means, one returns from there and dwells and practices in the lower realms. The so-called being afflicted without affliction means that one has abandoned the obscurations of what is to be known and afflictions, and even though one is without affliction, one practices in samsara for the benefit of sentient beings and appears to be afflicted. The so-called abandoning the burden and carrying the burden means that one has abandoned the burden of the five aggregates, and even though one has become free from outflows, by the power of skillful means, one practices for the benefit of sentient beings and takes on the burden of the five aggregates. The so-called showing the infinite in the finite means that from finite things such as the Four Dharma Sutras, one combines them with the practice of the mind and shows and explains infinite things such as the eighty-four thousand collections of Dharma. The so-called showing the finite in the infinite means that the eighty-four thousand collections of Dharma and so on are also briefly summarized into the Four Dharma Sutras and explained. The so-called making it clear to those with weak faculties means that one also teaches those with dull faculties, and with skillful means, one makes difficult meanings clear and easy to understand, or one makes the faculties sharp. The so-called knowing the time and the non-time means being skilled in the times for what should be done and what should not be done. The so-called going from the path to the bad path means that even though one abides in the noble path, one also goes to the path of samsara. The so-called quickly accomplishing many deeds means that even with small things such as generosity, one dedicates them to unsurpassed enlightenment with pure intention, thereby obtaining many and great results.
