The absence of these is indicated by the absence of the sound of opposing factors such as stinginess to the six perfections. The conduct of a Bodhisattva is the six perfections, because there are no faults such as stinginess, which are opposing factors to them. The absence of the fault of obscuration is indicated by the absence of the sound of obscurations and so forth. The five obscurations, namely, desire for pleasure, malice, excitement, regret, dullness, sleep, and doubt, are themselves also cut off, because they are cut off until the abandonment of afflictions. The actual practice of these is called manifestation, and the seed dwelling in the mind is called habit. The absence of the fault of different sentient beings is indicated by the absence of the sound of superior, middling, and inferior. All are Bodhisattvas endowed with the qualities as previously shown, and they abide completely, which is its synonym. The absence of the fault of different fields and dharmas is indicated by the absence of the sound of different sentient beings, vehicles, and fields. The meaning is that the sound of different sentient beings, castes, different vehicles such as Hearers, and different Buddha-fields such as the Saha world is not proclaimed. The absence of the fault of different Jewels is indicated by the absence of the sound of different Buddhas and so forth. Because there is no sound of different names of Buddhas, different branches of the Holy Dharma, and different Sanghas of Hearers and Bodhisattvas. The absence of the fault of being taught by evil teachers is indicated by the absence of the sound of food and so forth, the ego-grasping of thinking "I am," and because the body abides with joy and happiness for all. The absence of the fault of grasping self and other is indicated by the absence of the sound of ego-grasping and so forth, the ego-grasping of thinking "I am," and the grasping of thinking "This is mine," and also there is no sound of completely grasping my sons and wives. The absence of the fault of wrong views is indicated by the absence of the sound of demons and so forth, the view that there is no future life itself is recklessly entering into non-virtue, therefore it is a demon, and also connect that there is no sound of its manifestation and habit. In terms of the master being completely pure, in that world, the Thus-Gone One, the Arhat

Thus spoke the Tathagata Samantabhadra, the perfectly complete Buddha. The Dharma King possesses all the Dharmas that exist and as they exist, completely and without error, because of this. Apart from that, there is no other king of gods and humans in that world realm. Just as the Bhagavan Shakyamuni teaches the Dharma to his retinue by distinguishing words, sounds, and indicative terms, so too the Bhagavan does not teach the Dharma to those Bodhisattvas by distinguishing words, sounds, and indicative terms. How then does he teach the Dharma? As it is said, "In another place," etc., those Bodhisattvas come before the Bhagavan and gaze upon the body of the Tathagata without blinking, thereby obtaining the Samadhi of mindfulness of the Buddha. The eye is foolish, so it is impossible to realize Samadhi, but rather the wisdom that exists together with the eye consciousness realizes it, that is its definition. To endure all Dharmas without arising or ceasing through wisdom is called the forbearance of non-arising Dharmas, which is the eighth Bhumi. Thus, immediately after obtaining the Samadhi of mindfulness of the Buddha, the Tathagata

If asked: Here, the Buddha referred to is the Dharmakaya, and the Dharmakaya is not inherently any characteristic, such as names and excellent signs, nor can it be realized by any consciousness with characteristics. When one abandons all characteristics and sees the Tathagata as the Dharmakaya, at that time it can also be called truly recollecting the Buddha. When seeing in this way, one sees only that, therefore, the Bodhisattva is prophesied to obtain the forbearance of non-arising dharmas. This way of explaining should also be applied to the Nirmanakaya and other lower forms. Recollecting with the Nirmanakaya as the object is not recollecting the Buddha, which is indicated by "not distinguishing lineage, clan, and ancestry." Lineage refers to the Shakya lineage and so on. Clan refers to Gautama and so on. Ancestry refers to being born into a noble lineage itself. Recollecting by focusing on the cause is not recollecting the Buddha, which is indicated by "not fully distinguishing by previous white conduct." White conduct refers to the Paramitas. Its meaning is that (recollection) does not arise by focusing on "Buddhahood is achieved from the cause of practicing these (Paramitas)." Recollecting by focusing on the external result is not recollecting the Buddha, which is indicated by "not fully distinguishing by thinking about knowing the future limit." Its meaning is that (recollection) does not arise by focusing on "the result of white conduct is the achievement of omniscient wisdom at the future limit." Recollecting by focusing on the present appearance is not recollecting the Buddha, which is indicated by "not fully distinguishing by abiding in the present arising." Its meaning is that the appearing Tathagata is the present arising, and (recollection) does not arise by focusing on that. Thus, holding the qualities of the Tathagata, such as the Sambhogakaya, as characteristics and focusing on them indicates that it is not recollecting the Buddha. The fault of recollecting the Buddha, which is abandoning focusing on objects with characteristics, is also indicated by seventeen ways: Transcending the nature of the characteristics of knowable objects is indicated by "not fully distinguishing by the aggregates, elements, and sense bases." Transcending all characteristics of terminology, namely seeing, hearing, and distinguishing.
