In order to seek in accordance with the Dharma, one is confident that life is completely pure. Right effort is a limb for purifying the obscurations of afflictions, because it completely abandons all conforming factors. Right mindfulness is a limb for purifying near afflictions, because it does not forget the characteristics of calm abiding and insight, so there is no opportunity for the arising of afflictions of depression and excitement. Samadhi is a limb for purifying the obscurations for attaining special qualities, because it purifies the obscurations and thus accomplishes qualities such as clairvoyance. The Noble Eightfold Path, which is inexhaustible, has been explained. In order to show the condensed yoga practice and the extensive yoga practice, the Venerable Sharadvatiputra also said that the calm abiding and insight of the Bodhisattvas are also inexhaustible, and so on. These two are inexhaustible because the Dharma of focusing on one point and the Dharma to be realized are inexhaustible, so focusing on one point and realization are also inexhaustible. A Bodhisattva who has entered the condensed yoga is one who is well-versed in calm abiding in the path of practice, seeing, and meditation, and therefore, in this regard, what is the inexhaustibility of calm abiding? And so on. The inexhaustibility of calm abiding is also the inexhaustibility of the collection of calm abiding, and the inexhaustibility of calm abiding itself, which should be understood as twofold. Among them, from "the mind is calm" to "equanimity meditation" is the collection of calm abiding. From "the first dhyana" to "these nine are called calm abiding" shows calm abiding itself. There are two kinds of collections of calm abiding: non-principal collections and principal collections. With regard to non-principal collections, it is said, "the mind is calm," and so on. Not having many mental proliferations internally is a calm mind. Not liking to discriminate external objects is extreme calmness. Not having discrimination of inner and outer, or not having sleep and drowsiness, is near calmness. Not having many mental proliferations internally is calmness, so.

It is non-distraction. Because there is no outward conceptualization and it is very peaceful, it is the good guarding of the sense doors. Because there are no conceptualizations either internally or externally, it is neither coarse nor frivolous. Because it does not engage in many talks of kings and thieves, it does not speak nonsense. Because it is not controlled by afflictions, it is not a frivolous person. Because it cannot be moved by factors that are not conducive to samadhi, it is unchanging. Because it follows others and has no hatred, it is peaceful. Because it does not allow the eyes and other sense doors to enter their objects but guards them, it is guarded. Because it has entered the path of abandoning afflictions, it is intelligent. Because there is no sleep or drowsiness, it is capable. Because the mind does not wander to other objects, it is focused. Because it likes to be alone, it is fond of solitude. Because it does not live with many people, it completely abandons bustle. Because it likes a focused mind, it delights in solitude. Because it likes to be alone and abandons bustle, it is bodily solitary. Because the mind is not disturbed by afflictions, the mind is not defiled. Because the mind clearly contemplates dwelling in mountains and caves, it directs the mind towards solitary places. Because it only holds a few items such as robes and alms bowls, it is content with little. Because it does not want more than that, it is without desire. Because it is content with bad conditions, it is without great desire. Because it does not seek good things, it is content. Because there is no wrong livelihood, the livelihood is completely pure. Because the discipline is completely pure, the ritual is perfect. Because afflictions do not arise in all activities and the conduct is dignified, the conduct is guarded. Knowing the time and the non-time, observe as previously explained. Do not eat too much food, nor too little food, but in moderation, so it is knowing the right amount. Because it is content with a little, it is easy to satisfy and easy to nourish. By the power of individual examination, the so-called neither high nor low, means that by the power of wisdom with samadhi, because it knows that all phenomena are nothing, it will not become arrogant due to praise, nor will it become degraded due to slander. Bad words refer to the past time. Speaking badly refers to the present.
