The so-called "whatever the essence is, the essence of Bodhi is also that," means that the essence of affliction is the essence of emptiness, and the essence of Bodhi is also the essence of emptiness. Because these two have the same taste in the ultimate truth, that's why it is said. Or, the essence of affliction is emptiness, which is darkness, and that is Bodhi, and Bodhi is not produced from anything other than that, so it is said. For example, the so-called "abiding in mindfulness, but not abiding in anything," means abiding in a non-apprehending way, not abiding in mindfulness through the aspect of characteristics. Or, it means that it is only abiding in that way in the aspect of conventional characteristics, but in the ultimate truth, there is no abiding in anything. Not abiding means not abiding at the time of listening. Not extremely abiding means not abiding at the time of thinking. Not completely abiding means not abiding in the mind at the time of meditation. The so-called "knowing the nature of Dharma and abiding," means knowing that the nature of emptiness is inherently unchanging, therefore it is called abiding in the Dharmadhatu. The so-called "relying on the Buddha's Dharma, and believing everything to be the Buddha's Dharma," means that the Bodhisattva relies on and abides in the Buddha's Dharma. How does he rely on it? He relies on how the Buddha, the Bhagavan, knows all conditioned and unconditioned Dharmas, meaning that they are different in that way. The so-called "also generating the knowledge of cessation, and not intending the cessation of conditioned Dharmas," means that the Bodhisattva who abides in mindfulness, even if he knows that the knowable and the obstacles of affliction and all Dharmas are characteristics in the ultimate truth, in the conventional truth, he does not regard conditioned Dharmas as ceasing and being non-existent. Or, by realizing selflessness and abandoning all afflictions, he also generates wisdom, and also does not abandon the cause of manifesting virtue that produces in the three realms. The so-called "also accomplishing the knowledge of non-arising, also generating the view of sentient beings, and not abandoning the extreme of non-arising," means that even if one obtains the wisdom of knowing non-arising from the beginning, in the conventional truth,

It also generates observation of its meaning. Generating this meaning, it does not lean solely towards birth, nor does it abandon the Dharma nature of non-birth. This is its meaning. It summarizes the meaning of Dharma mindfulness. In order to briefly show how Dharma mindfulness is, it is taught as Dharma mindfulness and so on. The Dharma of Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas, all that is mentioned by name in the following, abides in the recollection of realizing emptiness, therefore it is called Dharma mindfulness. In order to show the meaning of recollection, it is taught as not forgetting this recollection even until the later end. It means that as long as the boundary of sentient beings and the boundary of Saṃsāra exist, the recollection of realization will not degenerate. Therefore, it should be connected with the words "all Dharmas without exception" in the following text. The so-called mindfulness is a word that extremely shows the immeasurable. The word Dharma mindfulness is a word that extremely shows the immeasurable. How is it a word that extremely shows the immeasurable? It is also explained as focusing on all Dharmas, and it is also shown by the words "universal object" and so on that appear in the following text. However, in general, the Dharmas to be recollected are immeasurable because they are inexhaustible, or even until the later end, this recollection is not forgotten and does not degenerate, therefore it is the meaning of immeasurable. The so-called universal object means that all knowable things become the object of this recollection, meaning that it universally focuses on everything. Everything is completely gathered because in this recollection, all Buddha Dharmas such as power and fearlessness are completely gathered. To satisfy means to benefit sentient beings and to generate sentient beings. To defeat means to destroy all Māras. To realize means that non-conceptual wisdom realizes itself. Thus, in general, this word is called Dharma mindfulness that follows the Dharma. This is the practice of inexhaustible Dharma mindfulness. The practice of the four inexhaustible mindfulnesses has been completely explained. Diligence becomes extremely intimate.
