Etc., and "transcending the actions of the world including the gods," etc., and "subduing, pacifying, exhaling," etc., and "knowing the path, understanding the path, knowing the path and the non-path," etc., the immeasurable qualities and praises are shown. Regarding the Sangha, the Blessed One also said, "The Shravaka Sangha is well-entered," etc., "the place of giving, the field of merit," etc., the immeasurable qualities and praises are shown, these are the words and syllables. The meaning is that "whoever sees the Dharmakaya of the Buddha," etc., the qualities spoken of the Buddha are not seen as qualities, but the Dharmakaya itself is seen; the qualities spoken of the Dharma are not seen as qualities, but the ultimate nature of being free from attachment and without arising or ceasing is seen; the qualities spoken of the Sangha are not seen as qualities, but it is seen as arising from the realization of the unconditioned Dharma nature. Thus, the wisdom that realizes the ultimate nature of the qualities of the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha is called meaning. In order to briefly explain the words and syllables, it is said that "words and syllables" are from the beginning of generating the mind, etc. From the initial generation of Bodhicitta to the final attainment of Buddhahood, all the many qualities of the Bodhisattvas that are shown and explained are words and syllables. In order to briefly explain the meaning, it is said that "whatever is a moment of mind," etc. At the time of fully attaining omniscience, the realization of Bodhi with a moment of mind is the meaning. In short, all the eighty-four thousand aggregates of Dharma that are taught are words and syllables, but in reality, their inexpressible nature is said to be the meaning. Here it says, "Rely on the meaning," understanding as explained above is relying on the meaning, not relying on the words and syllables. In order to show the extreme seeking of intention, it is said, "What is consciousness, what is wisdom," etc. What are the four? For example, when consciousness exists, it dwells close to form.

That which is called earth, etc., is when the consciousnesses of the eye, etc., are stabilized or focused and abide through craving for form, feeling, perception, and formations, this is called consciousness abiding. Or, approaching and abiding in form refers to the consciousnesses belonging to the desire realm, because the form consciousness mostly focuses on form, it is called abiding in form. Approaching feeling refers to the consciousnesses belonging to the form realm, because it mostly focuses on the feeling of bliss in meditation, so it approaches feeling, and approaching means abiding or focusing on it. Approaching perception refers to the consciousness belonging to the formless realm, because the sphere of infinite space, etc., mostly focuses on perception, so it approaches perception. Approaching formation refers to the consciousness in the cessation attainment, when first entering the cessation attainment, because it focuses and strives on its function, it is called approaching formation. Or, the consciousness at the peak of existence, because it abides in the formation of life for a long time, relying and abiding on it, it is called approaching and abiding in formation, this refers to consciousness. Then, what is wisdom? It is fully understanding the aggregate of consciousness abiding in the four aggregates, that is, truly and without inversion understanding what the nature of the above-mentioned aggregate of consciousness abiding in the four aggregates is, this is wisdom. In order to explain other types of consciousness and wisdom, furthermore, consciousness refers to the earth element consciousness, etc., that is, understanding the characteristics of the four great elements such as hardness and wetness is consciousness. The so-called regarding these four elements, etc., refers to the four consciousnesses that focus on the four elements, in reality, their essence is emptiness, therefore, considering them as an indivisible unity is wisdom. In order to explain other types of consciousness and wisdom, furthermore, consciousness refers to, etc., that is, form as the object of eye consciousness.
