Having abandoned, one obtains qualities such as strength and fearlessness, and also, having placed them in the mind of enlightenment, one obtains qualities such as strength and fearlessness, thus it is in accordance with the meaning. In order to teach other categories of combining Dharma giving and the four objects of gathering, other Dharma giving and so on were spoken. The so-called coming to listen to the Dharma means that the sentient beings who listen to the Dharma come from nearby. Superior means coming from afar for the sake of listening to the Dharma. Not being weary means not only speaking a part to those people, but speaking all of it. Not being distracted means abandoning other immediate tasks and focusing solely on teaching the Dharma. Eloquent speech means that the words travel far away, for example, one's own one yojana or two yojanas, one place or two places, one Jambudvipa or two Jambudvipas, even to the meaning of going beyond countless three thousand great thousand worlds. The mind stream born of superior intention means understanding with the intention of thinking of listening to the Dharma without being disturbed by the disturbance of utensils. The so-called planting and completely dedicating means planting the cause of accomplishing enlightenment and abiding in enlightenment itself. In order to teach other categories of combining Dharma giving and the objects of gathering, other Dharma giving and so on were spoken. The so-called recognizing that Dharma giving is the most excellent of all giving means that there are three types of giving, namely, material giving, fearlessness giving, and Dharma giving. Among them, the material giving and fearlessness giving of Bodhisattvas are merely the cause of wealth in samsara, but Dharma giving will lead to liberation, therefore, Dharma giving is the most excellent of all giving, one must understand this meaning. The so-called eloquent speech means teaching the Dharma for the sake of beneficial things, that is, teaching the Dharma that is in accordance with it in order to enable sentient beings to obtain the good destinies of gods and humans, is eloquent speech. Acting on meaning means the Dharma that relies on meaning.

In what is called "Explanation of the Grounds," emptiness is the meaning; now, understanding it is relying on the meaning. Explanations of words are letters; abiding in them is relying on the letters. When a Bodhisattva teaches the Dharma to other sentient beings, they teach the Dharma that relies on the meaning, and do not teach the Dharma that relies on the letters; this is beneficial conduct. To be in accordance with the meaning is, as it is said, for the sake of perfecting all the Buddha's teachings, such as powers and fearlessness. Teaching the Dharma that is in accordance with this is being in accordance with the meaning. Desiring to show other categories of objects of collection, it is said, "Furthermore, the Dharma giving is," etc. Among the six perfections, the perfection of giving is the giving of material things or the giving of Dharma, because it is the nature of giving. Pleasant speech is when the perfection of morality, etc., by the nature of the perfection of morality, does not harm others and does not utter harsh words; and by the perfection of patience, even if others harm, one does not harm back and does not utter harsh words; these two perfections are pleasant speech. Beneficial conduct is the perfection of diligence; by the perfection of diligence, one accomplishes the benefit of oneself and others, so it is the beneficial conduct of the perfection. Being in accordance with the meaning is when the perfection of meditation, etc., places the object of meditation single-pointedly and without distraction, thereby destroying afflictions; and by knowing the characteristics of the Dharma of wisdom without error, one eradicates afflictions from the root, so these two perfections are in accordance with the meaning. In order to show in which ground which element of the objects of collection is more dominant, it is said, "Furthermore, the Dharma giving is for those who first generate the mind," etc. When one attains the first ground, the Joyful Ground, the Dharma giving that perfects the perfection of giving is for the Bodhisattvas who first generate the mind, that is to say, the first generation of the mind here is also without outflows.

It is the initial arising of the mind that transcends the world. Pleasant speech is for the Bodhisattvas who are engaged in practice, which refers to the Bodhisattvas from the second bhumi up to the seventh bhumi who are engaged in the practice of the path of cultivation. At that time, because they have taken the precepts and the perfection of patience as their basis, and because they possess precepts, they do not speak or act wrongly through body and speech, and because they possess patience, there is no cause for speaking words that would harm others, therefore it is pleasant speech. Beneficial conduct is for the irreversible Bodhisattvas, which refers to the Bodhisattvas who have attained the eighth and ninth bhumis and who engage in benefiting sentient beings, etc. The meaning of particularly concordant conduct is for the Bodhisattvas who are bound by one lifetime, which refers to the Bodhisattvas who have attained the tenth bhumi, who conduct themselves without differentiation in the all-knowing wisdom, therefore, although each of the four divisions such as the first bhumi also does not fail to practice all four objects of collection, they are explained separately, referring to the fact that the practice of the objects of collection is more prevalent in that bhumi, etc. Considering that the categories associated with the bhumis can be established separately, furthermore, the giving of Dharma is said to be the basis of the root and seed of enlightenment, the root and seed of enlightenment refers to the first bhumi, after realizing the nature of pervading all realms of Dharma, generating the mind of enlightenment. The basis of that mind of enlightenment is entering into the ten practices of Dharma in the stage of faith practice, which is the giving of Dharma. Alternatively, the basis of the root and seed of enlightenment is the generation of the mind of enlightenment itself in the first bhumi. Because the generation of the mind becomes the seed, it is the basis for the arising of all uncontaminated dharmas. Pleasant speech is the sprout and leaves of enlightenment.
