Thus it is said. Why is it the most excellent? Because worldly beings with defilements, and even the superknowledges of noble Hearers and others who have transcended the world, cannot fully know the past, future, and superior states such as those with superior faculties and superior realms, they only know a little and have limitations. However, it is not so with Bodhisattvas, because it is without measure and limit, therefore it is the most excellent. Among them, "excellent" is because of auspiciousness. "Most supreme" is because of going from higher to higher in distinction. "Most superior" is because of going at the forefront of all. "Most outstanding" is because of pervading all forms. "Most clear" is because of being without stain and extremely pure. "Most good" is because of not being disparaged and being in accordance with Nirvana. "Most powerful" is because of having the great power to see all forms without obstruction. "Most radiant" is because of having the supreme power of stainless wisdom. The difference between the mundane and the supramundane has been explained. In order to show that all forms are seen, it is said, "With that divine eye," and so on. The meaning of "With that divine eye" is the divine eye that has transcended all the divine eyes of the mundane and supramundane that were mentioned before. "Appearing as form" is a synonym for belonging to form. "Gross" includes all that belongs to the great, such as snow mountains and Mount Meru. "Subtle" includes all that belongs to the small, such as dust and minute particles. "Good" includes all that is good, such as the forms of noble learners and non-learners. "Bad" includes all that is bad, such as the forms of ordinary beings. "Distant" includes all that belongs to the distant, such as that which is located beyond hundreds of thousands of world realms. "Near, whatever it may be" includes all that is near, such as all the forms that are located nearby. Alternatively, gross refers to the four great elements. Subtle refers to the forms that are made up of the four great elements. Again,

The coarse are the forms of the world. The subtle are the forms beyond the world. Alternatively, the coarse are the forms belonging to the desire realm. The subtle are the forms belonging to the form realm. The beautiful are the forms of beings in the good realms. The ugly are the forms of beings in the bad realms. Alternatively, the beautiful are those with shape and color. The ugly are those without shape and color. The distant are the forms of the past and future. The near are the forms of the present. Alternatively, the distant are the forms belonging to others' continuums. The near are the forms belonging to one's own continuum. All of these are all those forms mentioned above. Those are seen by the divine eye of those Bodhisattvas. Knowing and appearing, etc., are terms for different aspects of seeing. Alternatively, seeing past forms is knowing. Seeing present forms is appearing. Seeing future forms is thoroughly understanding. Seeing gross forms is thoroughly seeing. Alternatively, knowing arises from the cause of the heat of the samadhi of the practice of faith. Appearing arises from the cause of the crown of the head. Understanding arises from the cause of patience. Thorough knowing arises from the cause of the supreme worldly dharma. Thorough seeing arises from the cause of the path of seeing. "Knowing death and rebirth exactly as they are" means that both death and transference refer to abandoning and taking aggregates. Since taking and abandoning the form aggregate is the object of the eye, it should be known by the divine eye. "Knowing the causes of their actions exactly as they are" means that whatever those sentient beings do through body and speech, following their causes, whatever actions arise from their actions, is also thoroughly known, which is the meaning. Knowing the results of actions means knowing what the results of actions done now through body and speech will become later. Knowing the wisdom of the faculties means knowing the order of sharpness and dullness of the faculties such as the eye, and the faculties such as faith. These causes and results of actions and faculties such as faith are forms.
