Actions and so on were spoken. The former words are the cause, and the latter words are the nature. Among them, for sentient beings, thinking of deceiving and deluding, or for all actions, not doing from the depths of the heart, but only accumulating evil deeds, doing meaningless things, this is deceit. Because great compassion arises from the cause of not having such things, great compassion is doing things from the depths of the heart. Those who have great compassion do not deceive and delude sentient beings, and all actions become essence. Because it arises from the absence of cause, it is said that the cause is spoken in words, but in reality it is not accomplished. Because it arises from the absence of such a mind, great compassion is the practice of action, which means accomplishing everything. Because it arises from non-retrogression, it is said that in order to achieve unsurpassed Bodhi, and to do the benefit of sentient beings, it arises from the cause of a mind that never retreats, so great compassion is acting with higher intention, which is what those with higher intention do. Because it arises from non-fabrication, it is said that the nature of body, speech, and mind is in another state, and it is shown as another state, this is fabrication. Because it does not have that, but arises from the cause of showing the nature as it is, the nature of great compassion is wisdom, which means that oneself does not show from the true state of nature to another state. Because it arises from the straight path, it is said that all the evil paths of constant view and annihilation view, and view of existence and non-existence are abandoned, making it go to Nirvana. Because it arises from the cause of the eight branches of the noble path, the nature of great compassion is completely pure, which means that it is not mixed with the faults of the evil path. Because it arises from clarity, it is said that blowing the meaning of what is said with wind, not showing it clearly, this is hypocrisy. Because it arises from the cause of the characteristic of clarity without that, great compassion is a mind without hypocrisy. Because it arises from bowing to all sentient beings, it is said that those who have compassion always prostrate to sentient beings who are saints and non-saints, and to virtuous and non-virtuous sentient beings.

Therefore, great compassion is without pride. The so-called "because sentient beings are immeasurable" means that the realm of sentient beings is immeasurable, and cannot be limited to this. Therefore, with great compassion focusing on immeasurable sentient beings, thereby obtaining the fruit of unsurpassed Bodhi, so great compassion arises from the immeasurable. The so-called "arising from obtaining the body of the Tathagata" means not being attached to one's own body born from karma and afflictions, but to obtain the three bodies of the Tathagata, with this goal as the cause, so great compassion does not cherish oneself, and does not value one's own body for the sake of great benefit. The so-called "arising from not doing all evils" means that for one's own benefit, even for the sake of life, one does not commit all evils such as killing and taking what is not given, with this goal as the cause, great compassion does not rely on life, and does not commit evil for the sake of life. The so-called "arising from the mind of Bodhi" means guiding all sentient beings from the state of non-virtue to the state of virtue, and liberating them to unsurpassed Bodhi, with this mind of Bodhi as the cause of the mind, so great compassion is protecting others, and does not allow all sentient beings to fall into the state of non-virtue. The so-called "arising from the complete purification of one's own mind" means that the mind that does not harm the lives of others and does not harm enjoyment, etc., is the complete purification of the mind. In this way, arising from the cause of the completely pure mind, so great compassion is protecting sentient beings, and does not harm the lives and enjoyment of sentient beings in any way. The so-called "arising from eliminating the suffering of all sentient beings" means that, in general, the suffering of all sentient beings is of three kinds: the suffering of lacking enjoyment, the suffering of experiencing cold and heat after being born in a good realm, the suffering of being born in a bad realm, and the suffering of desiring liberation but having no one to guide the way. These three sufferings must be eliminated, with this goal as the cause, so great compassion is caring for the poor, etc., and receiving
