It starts from what is called "non-meritorious deeds" and explains up to "not desiring all places of birth." It is explained by regarding the antidote ground as a merit and understanding nirvana as a place and refuge. Therefore, the two, by what one goes and where one goes, are the Hearer Vehicle. By what one goes is going by the thought of refuting the unfavorable side. Going upwards is going to the place of nirvana. Refuting the unfavorable side is also of two kinds: abandoning the cause and abandoning the result. Abandoning the cause is also of two kinds: abandoning karma and abandoning afflictions. In terms of abandoning karma, it is said, "Whatever is merit," etc., seeing the three formations as the cause of birth in the three realms, and then reproaching them in various ways, which is to reproach, that is, to refute. That is also of two kinds: abandoning what was done before and not doing it later. Among them, abandoning what was done before is purifying the habit of the three formations that were previously practiced with the noble path. Not doing it later is not engaging in the karma of the three formations from now on. Abandoning afflictions is also of two kinds: seeing its result as the nature of suffering, etc. Therefore, one does not like it and wants to abandon it because one sees that its cause produces suffering. "Having turned away from all three realms" indicates that one does not like it because one sees its result as the nature of suffering. The three realms are the desire realm, the form realm, and the formless realm. Among them, the desire realm is the four continents, the six gods of the desire realm, sentient beings in hell, animals, and hungry ghosts. The form realm is the sixteen places such as Brahma's retinue, Brahma's minister, and Great Brahma. The formless realm is the four places such as the sphere of infinite space. Turning away is being weary of the three realms. "Being free from attachment" indicates that one wants to abandon it because one sees that its cause produces suffering. The three realms refer to when afflictions have been abandoned.

is free from attachment. From the perspective of abandoning the result, it is said that "all conditioned phenomena are impermanent," and so on. Combine the sound of "all" with both sounds of conceptualization, that is, combine it with "conceiving impermanence in all conditioned phenomena" and "conceiving suffering in all conditioned phenomena." The aggregates, elements, sense bases, and other phenomena that arise from causes and conditions are all conditioned phenomena. Recognizing that they are destroyed by two types of impermanence is called conceiving impermanence in all conditioned phenomena. The two types of impermanence are impermanence due to destruction and impermanence due to momentary destruction. Among them, impermanence due to destruction refers to the fact that one will eventually die, starting from the Avici hell and up to the peak of existence, where the beings residing there will move from their own abodes. Impermanence due to momentary destruction refers to the fact that each moment is also destroyed and arises. Knowing that all conditioned phenomena possess eight types of suffering is called conceiving suffering. The eight types of suffering are the suffering of birth, the suffering of aging, the suffering of sickness, the suffering of death, the suffering of meeting with the unpleasant, the suffering of separation from the pleasant, the suffering of not obtaining what one desires, and in short, the aggregates of appropriation are suffering. Among them, birth refers to the manifestation of aggregates, elements, and sense bases in beings such as humans and gods in various realms of existence. Why is birth said to be suffering? Because of two reasons: it is suffering by nature, and it becomes the basis for other sufferings. Among them, aging refers to the transformation of the aggregates, such as the destruction of youth and the decline of age, and so on. Why is aging said to be suffering? Because the color and shape that are greatly loved and pleasing to relatives and friends, and that are in accordance with the eyes and minds of virtuous women, are very beautiful, but they are struck by the hail of aging, becoming unbeautiful, shrunken, and dilapidated, causing even relatives and friends to be very displeased, and even virtuous women will abandon them, so it is suffering.
