Because maturation is immutable, it is called "Immovable." Its meaning is just that. Sentient beings in the desire realm, having performed actions, completely giving alms, experience human enjoyment among humans. However, that person, due to the influence of actions such as breaking precepts, causes the maturation of being born as a human to change, like a king's or minister's ox or horse. For the actions of the form and formless realms, maturation is immutable, so it is called "Immovable." The cause of being born in samsara is the cause of samsara, such as virtuous, non-virtuous, and immovable actions, all of which are tainted. The result arising from that cause is samsara itself. The cause of becoming nirvana is the cause of nirvana, which is the noble path. The result arising from that is nirvana. Furthermore, nirvana is of two types: nirvana with a single aspect abandoned and nirvana with two aspects abandoned. Among these, nirvana with a single aspect abandoned is the abandonment of the aspect of afflictions to be abandoned by seeing and meditation, which is nirvana with the remainder of the aggregates. Nirvana with two aspects abandoned is the abandonment of the aspect of the aggregates, just as the aspect of afflictions has been abandoned, which is nirvana with the remainder of the aggregates completely abandoned. The term "all those" refers to all those arising from the causes of virtuous actions, non-virtuous actions, immovable actions, the cause of samsara, and the cause of nirvana, as mentioned above. Any sentient being who takes the cause of the faculties as a measure is born from the cause of the faculties and also from the cause of actions, which is to say, accomplishes the cause of the result. The faculties themselves are the cause of performing and accomplishing virtue, non-virtue, samsara, and nirvana, so they are the cause of the faculties. Thus, from the cause of the faculties, these dharmas arise, and knowing that they are not created by agents, etc., is taking the cause of the faculties as a measure. All those virtuous and non-virtuous actions, as well as samsara and nirvana, arise from the cause of the faculties and actions, and the cause of the result, such as virtue, is from the faculties.

If one knows that phenomena that already exist, as well as phenomena that do not yet exist, arise from the cause of karma, then one should classify this person as skilled in dependent origination. The so-called skilled in the arising of all phenomena from causes refers to knowing that fruit arises from the maturation of causes, as mentioned earlier, and this is its meaning. Having thus explained the nature that accords with reason, in order to explain the nature that contradicts reason, therefore, it is said, "Furthermore, the nature of being skilled in dependent origination," and so on. For example, just as without firewood there would be no fire and smoke, and without a seed there would be no sprout, if afflictions cease, then the fruit born from them will not arise. Therefore, when improper attention ceases, ignorance ceases. If one asks, is the cessation of ignorance and so on also dependent origination? The answer is: There is no fault. Because if one negates this as completely non-existent, then one cannot say that ignorance and so on cease. For example, just as the cause of a lamp causes darkness to cease, and light arises, and just as taking medicine essence causes happiness to arise without illness, similarly, through the power of cultivating the path, wisdom that is incompatible with ignorance arises, and this is what is called the cessation of ignorance. Thus, seeing the state of being incompatible with actions and so on arising from higher to higher, one sees the cessation of actions and so on. Furthermore, if one knows that phenomena arise from conforming causes and do not arise from non-conforming causes, one is skilled in dependent origination. In order to show this, therefore, it is said, "Furthermore, all phenomena depend on causes," and so on. All phenomena refers to inner phenomena and outer phenomena. Among them, inner phenomena refers to actions and so on, which are conditioned by ignorance. Outer phenomena refers to seeds and sprouts, and so on. Depending on causes means that these phenomena arise depending on the six causes, and this is its meaning. So, what are the six causes? The efficient cause, the co-emergent cause, the similar cause, the corresponding cause, the pervasive cause, and the ripening cause. Among them, the efficient cause refers to form and mind when these phenomena arise.
