The term "these four truths" refers to the four truths, such as suffering, mentioned above. "Thus, contemplating with wisdom" means understanding that those four truths are empty of inherent existence, as explained earlier. "Not contemplating with the contemplation of truth" means that because one understands that those noble truths themselves are without inherent existence, one does not even grasp those truths as truths. Such a person is called "skilled in the noble truths." Furthermore, intending to explain the aspects of the four noble truths, for the purpose of showing the nature of the truth of suffering, it is said, "Moreover, all feelings are suffering." Here, all feelings refer to feelings of suffering, feelings of pleasure, and feelings that are neither pleasure nor suffering. Among these, the feeling of suffering is suffering because its nature is suffering. The feeling of pleasure and the feeling that is neither pleasure nor suffering are suffering because they ultimately turn into suffering and are pervaded by the suffering of conditioning. This "all feelings are suffering" is the nature of the truth of suffering. In order to show how one comes to know the nature of suffering, it is said, "Discriminating and knowing that feeling," and so forth. "That feeling" refers to the three types of feelings mentioned above. "Discriminating" means distinguishing that the feeling of suffering is pervaded by the suffering of its own nature, the feeling of pleasure is pervaded by the suffering of change, and the feeling that is neither pleasure nor suffering is pervaded by the suffering of conditioning. "Knowing" means understanding that those feelings are also unfindable. As explained above, distinguishing that all feelings are suffering and knowing that they are unfindable is called the noble truth of knowing suffering as suffering. In order to show the nature of the origin of suffering, it is said, "That feeling arises from what cause, that is the origin," and so forth. This refers to those feelings mentioned above, arising from what

That which is the cause of being born and emerging is called Samudaya. The cause of the arising of feelings is contact, because feelings arise from consciousness, so contact is called Samudaya. Therefore, it is said in the Sutra: "Conditioned by contact, there is feeling; conditioned by feeling, there is craving, etc." In order to show how to know Samudaya, it is said, "Knowing the cause as it really is," etc. "What" means what person or what wisdom. "Cause" means the cause of feeling, which is the meaning of contact. Knowing as it really is means that the cause of the arising of feelings is thoroughly understood as emptiness. In order to show what the nature of the Truth of Cessation is, and how to know the Truth of Cessation, it is said, "All feelings are cut off, and feeling without feeling is also felt," etc. All the feelings mentioned above are cut off and disappear, that is the nature of the Truth of Cessation. Knowing the Truth of Cessation without feeling in this way, abiding in non-discriminating wisdom, and not manifesting the Truth of Cessation in order to view sentient beings, that is the Noble Truth of knowing cessation as cessation. In order to show the nature of the Truth of the Path, it is said, "The path accomplished by whatever feeling is like a raft," etc. Abiding in the Noble Path, as mentioned above, if one knows that all feelings are suffering, or that feeling itself is empty in nature, that path is called the path accomplished by feeling. Because the path must also be abandoned after the Dharma to be accomplished is accomplished, it is said to be like a raft. Or, relying on the Noble Path, one is liberated from the feelings that have become the nature of suffering, and abandons them, so the path is like a raft that liberates from the ocean. In order to show how to know the nature of the path, it is said, "Whoever wants to feel does not want the path," etc., meaning for the three kinds of feelings.

Attachment is clinging to what appears to be inverted, therefore, it is not abiding on the noble path. In order to summarize and explain the meaning of the extensively taught truths, it is said, "Thus seeing these four truths," and so on. "What" means any person. "Thus seeing these four truths" means seeing the truths as they are, according to the previously explained manner. "Understanding equally with purity" means with pure wisdom, or because the four truths are inherently pure, understanding that all truths are of one nature and one taste. Wishing to show other categories of truths, in order to summarize and explain the nature of suffering and so on, it is said, "Furthermore, in short, birth is suffering," and so on. Because the five aggregates are fully ripened, and the born one possesses various sufferings, it is said that birth is suffering. Or, the specific accumulation of karmic imprints that connect the self, by which in beings such as gods and humans, the aggregates, elements, and sources are taken, is called birth. Or, there are five types of birth: the birth of realizing the Dharma, the birth of dwelling in the womb, the birth of perfect lineage, the birth of beings of the same kind with the same nature, and the birth of arising separately. Among these, the birth of realizing the Dharma is becoming a son after understanding the meaning of the scriptures taught by the Tathagata. Therefore, it is also said in the sutras, "Born from the mouth, born from the noble Dharma-Vinaya," and so on. The birth of dwelling in the womb is like a sprout growing from a seed, and a leaf growing from a sprout, arising in stages such as budding and tender. The birth of perfect lineage is like the lineage of precious Indra-nila jewels, and the lineage of great Indra-nila, becoming a royal family, becoming a Brahmin lineage. The birth of beings of the same kind with the same nature is like various trees, where Tala trees are of the same kind as Tala trees, and Sandalwood trees are of the same kind as Sandalwood trees.
