Speaks correctly in those. That which is called "not knowing it completely" is not understanding and misunderstanding, and not knowing due to improper attention is ignorance. If there is ignorance, various actions will be manifestly accomplished, namely approaching merit, approaching non-merit, and approaching immovability. Among them, from the actions approaching merit, it will become consciousness approaching merit. From the actions approaching non-merit, it will become consciousness approaching non-merit. From the actions approaching immovability, it will become consciousness approaching immovability, this is called name and form because of consciousness. Name and form increase, and actions are performed through the gates of the six sense bases, this is called the six sense bases because of name and form. From the six sense bases arise the six aggregates of contact, this is called contact because of the six sense bases. As contact arises, so does feeling arise, this is called feeling because of contact. Experiencing those differences of feeling, and manifesting joy, and dwelling with particular attachment, this is called craving because of feeling. From experiencing and particularly clinging, the desire and aspiration for "may I not be separated from the nature of suffering, may I not be separated from the nature of happiness," this is called grasping because of craving. Thus aspiring, and diligently arousing actions of body, speech, and mind that generate future existence, this is called existence because of grasping. The aggregates born from that action are manifestly accomplished, this is called birth because of existence. Having been born, in order to be manifestly accomplished, the growth of the aggregates is fully matured, and destroyed, this is called aging and death because of birth. The earlier and earlier limbs are the cause of the later and later births, therefore they are only the conditions for the later arising, thus the twelve limbs of dependent origination.

This arises from other causes and conditions. The twelve branches enter into three. This is born constantly, without interruption. It enters like a stream of water. It enters with beginningless time. It is not impermanent, because it is permanent. It is not conditioned, because it is free from action. It is not a sentient being, because it is free from mind. It is not caused by conditions, because it is free from conditions. It is not a law of decay, because it is free from accumulation. It is not a law of cessation, because it is free from birth, abiding, and destruction. Entering from beginningless time is because it is free from the complete severance of the limits of time. Because it arises continuously like a river, it enters without interruption. The Extensive Explanation of the Ārya Śālistamba Sūtra, the Fourth Volume, which is the last. This dependent arising, although it follows continuously like a stream of water, these four are the collection of causes. The four branches become the cause of collecting what is called the twelve branches of dependent arising. Therefore, it was said, "What are the four?" Ignorance, craving, and consciousness. These are explained in order. Ignorance, craving, karma, and consciousness are in order. Cause is the seed of consciousness, consciousness is the cause of the nature of the seed. Karma is said to be the field, karma is the cause of the nature of the field. Ignorance and craving are the cause of the nature of affliction. Karma and affliction are consciousness, abiding near the seed itself. Karma and affliction produce the seed consciousness. Therein, karma also performs the function of the field for the seed consciousness. Craving immediately moistens the seed called consciousness. Ignorance is the seed consciousness, planting is supported by moisture. Karma, craving, and ignorance, the field, moisture, and planters, for consciousness, these are actions, and consciousness itself does not have the thought of "I". Among them, even karma does not have thoughts such as "I think."
