The emanated clouds of limitless bodies are indeed the cause for benefiting sentient beings. These two minds, encompassed by the state of complete Buddhahood, are distinguished in sequence. The one spoken of first is during the actual practice, while the latter is considered during the subsequent practice. This is the distinction of the mind of enlightenment as explained in Entering the Bodhisattva's Way of Life. Through the distinction of aspiration and engagement, the mind of enlightenment is clearly divided into two. From the moment one takes on the responsibility to protect the limitless realm of sentient beings, with an irreversible mind, and has truly taken that mind, from this day forward, even if one sleeps or becomes heedless, the power of merit will continuously increase, arising as vast as the sky. Although the result is great when circling in samsara from the aspiring mind of enlightenment, the continuous arising of merit is not like that of the engaging mind. With all these virtuous dharmas, all contaminated and uncontaminated, and the characteristics including the path and its fruit, are completely gathered and explained as they are. This is the seventh chapter, the chapter on generating the mind of enlightenment, from Entering the Path of the Conquerors. Supremely upholding virtue and abandoning all non-virtue, one who upholds vows in this way completely protects them as they are. With the mind of the teachings, one should remember the suffering of samsara. To abandon the cause of suffering, one should completely take up the antidote. That is, lay practitioners, temporary monks, novices, and monks, should abandon and uphold the five, eight, and ten precepts, respectively. Based on the distinction between male and female, in short, it is again divided into eight. The vows of individual liberation, as they are called, are extensively explained in the Vinaya. A monk's body is tamed, a monk's speech is tamed, a monk's mind is tamed, a monk is tamed in every way. One should not commit any evil deeds, but should fully practice all virtues, and tame one's own mind. This is the teaching of the Buddha. Those who enter the Great Vehicle become particularly excellent, possessing the training of a Bodhisattva, and following them individually. The training of the mind of enlightenment, all the teachings spoken by the limitless Sage, are gathered in works such as Entering the Bodhisattva's Way of Life, and those should be examined.
