The characteristics of the six perfections are explained here. Dhyanas (meditations), immeasurables, and whatever is formless, these are the characteristics of non-disturbance, as spoken by the truly knowing one. The thirty-seven factors of enlightenment are characterized by definite emergence. Emptiness, because of its seclusion, its characteristic is absence of signs. Because of peace, it is signlessness; the third nature is suffering, and the liberation from ignorance, its characteristic is liberation. The powers, which are extremely definite in nature, are also spoken of. Protectors and fearlessness are of an extremely stable nature. The individual correct knowledges are characterized by fearlessness and immeasurability. Great love is definitely spoken of as diligently benefiting beings. Great compassion is the complete protection of those who suffer, and joy is the characteristic of great joy. Equanimity is called the characteristic of non-mixture. The Buddha's teachings are unmixed, whichever of the ten and eight are desired, because the teacher does not take away, therefore it is the characteristic of not taking away. The wisdom of all-knowingness is considered to be the characteristic of direct perception. Others are one-sided, therefore it is not considered direct perception. What is the characteristic of the conditioned, and what is the characteristic of the unconditioned? They are only emptiness, that is self-characteristic emptiness. Now this is not abiding, the past and future do not exist, where those are not perceived, that is called imperceptible. Imperceptibility is its own nature, and whatever is secluded by it, is the emptiness of imperceptibility because it is constant, non-abiding, and non-destructive. Forms arising from combination do not exist, because they arise from the adornment of things. Those arising from conditions are empty by that very fact, the emptiness of things. What is spoken of by the sound of things is, in brief, the five aggregates, and whatever is empty of them, that is explained as the emptiness of things. In short, if there is no thing, it refers to the unconditioned dharmas. That is the emptiness of no-thing, the emptiness of no-thing. Self-nature, own-being, no-nature is, the emptiness of speaking of own-being, thus self-nature is not made, therefore it is taught as own-being.
