It is said that these four dharmas will become obstacles to the Mahayana. In the Sutra of Brahma's Questions, it is also said: King, I recall the past, there was a Buddha named Buddha of Wisdom Light. For eighty thousand years, he preached the Dharma and then passed away. After that Buddha passed away, when the True Dharma was declining, there was a Bhikshu named Possessing Mindfulness. He did not obtain Dharani, but he obtained fearlessness. He was beautiful and eloquent, always content with meager needs. Just as clouds and rain nourish sentient beings, he nourished gods and other beings with the Dharma. In that era of his, above was a city named Adorned King City. Its circumference was eight yojanas. It was peaceful and prosperous, and the people were intelligent. That Dharma speaker, the Bhikshu Possessing Mindfulness, came there and preached the Dharma for the benefit of sentient beings. Two thousand three hundred kotis of sentient beings were placed in unsurpassed Bodhi. They offered him flowers, incense, clothing, and suitable food and drink, with the most excellent songs, dances, and music, just as they would offer to a Buddha. There were five hundred Bhikshus who were very discordant, and they proclaimed his faults in the city, saying that the virtuous one had committed errors, and they spoke about it one by one in front of the householders. On the full moon Uposatha day, the evil Bhikshus, standing up with transgressions, said: If you do not leave quickly tonight, we will cut off your vital points and take your life. He had compassion for those speaking Bhikshus, and that pure being did not shrink back. The gods were displeased and roared, saying: Why do you insult the Buddha's son? After that, all five hundred Bhikshus spent the night laughing and rejoicing. Alas, we have been liberated from that disaster, and we feel as if we have unloaded a burden. After those five hundred Bhikshus died, they stayed in hell for eighty kalpas. For seventy-six kotis of thousands of kalpas, those Bhikshus lived in the preta world. Those beings were there lifetime after lifetime, and they were reborn as venomous snakes, eating dirt.

Those who were caught saw it and beat him with sticks. Without protection, he became without relatives and friends. In eighteen billion trillion lifetimes, Having been born among humans, he became poor. Mad and always decaying in the land. Ugly in appearance, despised, and his power was small. Acting like that, he was overwhelmed by arrogance. He himself always creates many unpleasant things. He also finds fault with the generosity of others. He throws himself into a great abyss. In the future, in the age of sixty kalpas, An age called "Great Fame" will arise. There, saviors, those who accomplish the benefit of the world, Ten million billion Sugatas will appear. Those will be the times of the last Buddhas, There, they will obtain human bodies, Having seen the Buddha, they will obtain forbearance. They will see as many Buddhas as there are grains of sand in the Ganges. In the past, all of them together, In the mind of omniscient wisdom, they made vows. There, they their bodhicitta does not decline. Due to the differences in thoughts, they fall into the lower realms. At that time, I was the son of the Dharma-speaking king, I also became known as "Mindful." Whoever refutes, will refute the teacher. Therefore, having abandoned and discarded arrogance, Abandoning what is improper, practice the yoga of wisdom! Whoever does not want to tame himself, He also cannot abandon ignorant words, Like a pile of fire, abandon jealousy! Regarding what is seen and unseen, heard and unheard, truth and untruth, do not discuss others. A monk who desires to attain supreme enlightenment, should eliminate his own faults. Practitioners, for the sake of enlightenment, give away all those things, both internal and external. Whoever desires my supreme enlightenment, Why do they generate anger towards others? In the future, in my teachings, many unruly people will also slander enlightenment. They will go to the deep abyss and great precipice. With the mind lost, what is the use of enlightenment? Whoever desires my supreme enlightenment, having abandoned arrogance like a son of a bad lineage, Having generated a mind of loving-kindness towards all sentient beings, do not be displeased with what is obtained and not obtained. Also, where other great kings have no respect, no faith, and hate others, and are opportunistic, there, it is the same.
