It is so. The Bhikshu declares three places to him, what are the three? Home. Speaking of its faults, knowing that he is displeased, and adding fabrications to the home, speaking untrue words. These are not noble persons, with trustworthy conduct, revealing the Dharma to be reproached. Shariputra, thus, Being stingy with the home is the place where the white Dharma is completely diminished. Again, Shariputra, those non-noble persons who dwell in stinginess with the home will abandon the Bodhisattva who dwells in vows, and the Bodhisattva who dwells in vows will not follow the Mahabodhisattva. Shariputra, thus, you should understand in this way in this manner, it is said. In the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, it is also said: How does the Bodhisattva Mahasattva abandon stinginess with the home? Subhuti, here, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva should generate this thought: Whatever I shall give to all sentient beings all the means of happiness. These are happy only by their own merits, so I should not generate a stingy mind towards them, it is said. In the Samadhiraja Sutra, which elaborates on the equality of the nature of all dharmas, it is also said: I am always without jealousy, I shall not rely on the home. Attachment to the home gives rise to jealousy, and when there is no jealousy, one enjoys happiness. It is said. In the Adhyashayasamchayana Sutra, it is also asked in this way, and the Blessed One taught the sixty individuals of the Bodhisattva vehicle in this way: Sons of good family, in the past, in this auspicious eon, the Tathagata lived in the scriptures that dispel wrong beliefs and became a renunciate, intoxicated by the pride of discipline, intoxicated by the pride of much learning, you who are attached to the virtues of practice and the miserly with resources, to the two Bhikshu Dharma speakers, thus, to the cause of gain and respect, and to the home of friends and the home that gives alms.

Because of fundamentally harboring jealousy and stinginess, you slandered with false accusations out of hatred. You disrupted the relationship of those two Dharma-speaking monks with their friends and almsgivers, causing them to have doubts and distrust. You also spoke many bad things about those two Dharma-speaking monks. Through that unpraiseworthy slander, you severed the roots of virtue of those beings and obscured the roots of virtue. Because of that obscuration of non-virtuous karma, you will be born in the great hell of sentient beings, Avīci, for six years. For forty thousand years, you will be born in the great reviving hell of sentient beings. For twenty thousand years, you will be born in the great black line hell of sentient beings. For one hundred thousand years, you will be born in the great hot hell of sentient beings. After you die and transmigrate from there, even if you obtain a human body, you will become blind for five hundred lifetimes. Due to the residue of that karmic obscuration of yours, wherever you are born, you will become dull-witted and forgetful. Obscured by the obscuration of non-virtuous roots, you will become known as weak and powerless. Overwhelmed by the faults of ugliness, you will suffer blame, degradation, slander, and frequently appear in bad places, bad environments, and bad regions, being born into low castes and poor castes. You will obtain little wealth, little respect, be disrespected, and not be offered to. After you die and transmigrate from here, in the final five hundred years, when the sacred Dharma declines, you will be born in bad places and bad regions, being born into low and poor castes, suffering much slander, becoming forgetful, abandoning roots of virtue, encountering obstacles even when striving, and even if you have an appearance of awakening, it will disappear again. In the final five hundred years, all your karmic obscurations will be exhausted. Having exhausted them, you will be born in the Buddha-field world of Sukhāvatī, the realm of the Tathāgata (Tathāgata,དེ་བཞིན་གཤེགས་པ་) Amitābha. The Tathāgata Amitābha will also prophesy that you will attain unsurpassed perfect enlightenment.

Thus I have heard. Also, in the Maitreya Siṃhanāda Sūtra, it says: Maitreya, in that future time, in the last five hundred years of the future age, among those who claim to be bodhisattvas, many sinful desires will arise. What are these desires? Now I will explain them. Maitreya, if a bodhisattva possesses four qualities, it can be known that he is a self-proclaimed bodhisattva. What are these four? They are desiring gain, desiring respect, being deceitful, and living by a base livelihood. Maitreya, if a bodhisattva possesses these four qualities, it can be known that he is a self-proclaimed bodhisattva. Maitreya, in that future time, in the last five hundred years of the future age, many who claim to be bodhisattvas and behave like dogs will appear. Maitreya, for example, a dog that has previously gone to a certain house, now sees another dog coming from afar, becomes angry, makes threatening sounds, looks at it with angry eyes, creates faults with malice, treats other people's houses as its own, thinking, 'This house is mine,' and then generates the idea of possession. Maitreya, similarly, in the future time, in the last five hundred years of the future age, those who claim to be bodhisattvas and behave like dogs will also treat other people's houses and villages as their own, generating the idea of possession, and after generating the idea of possession, they will completely take possession of them. If that bhikṣu sees another bhikṣu coming to the house he has previously gone to, thinking, 'This house is mine,' then he looks at him with angry eyes, generates malice, and causes fighting, beating, arguing, and debating, speaking divisive words to each other, speaking harsh words, saying to others, 'So-and-so bhikṣu has such and such faults, so-and-so bhikṣu has such and such faults,' speaking unpleasant words, and also saying to the patrons, 'Do not associate with so-and-so bhikṣu. If you want to associate with me, do not associate with so-and-so bhikṣu,' they are disgusting.
