In order to be completely liberated from all fears, one should renounce in the teachings of the previous Buddhas, the Bhagavat. Having renounced in this way, immediately abandoning yogic contemplation and abandoning recitation in accordance with the Dharma, those various objects offered to the monks who abide in the Dharma, some of them are used by themselves, and some are given to those who remain at home, both of which are destroyed by the suffering of the lower realms. Having seen this fault, therefore, I should teach well in order to awaken the mindfulness of the Shravakas. My Shravakas, whoever it may be, should not give the flowers, fruits, leaves, and essences offered to the monks and offered to the Sangha of monks to those who remain at home, nor should they use them with personal thoughts. Do not trade with other monks. Do not fall into the suffering of the lower realms by transforming conditions and alchemy because sentient beings are completely attached to wealth, but should gather sentient beings by the gathering of Dharma. One should abide in the four irreversible faiths, the three vehicles, and the three doors of liberation.” Thus it was said. In the Sutra of the Fierce One's Questions, it is also said: “The householder should thus make the Bodhisattva householder inclined to renounce. He should generate this thought in this way: Even if I offer offerings as numerous as the sands of the Ganges River in one day, and completely give away all possessions, but completely giving away all possessions is not as powerful as the mind of renunciation in the well-spoken Vinaya. I should not think that liking generosity is important. What is the reason for that? Householder, generosity is inferior. Do not those who are faithless, ungrateful, thieves, Chandalas, those punished by the king, and ministers also give alms? Householder, I should also not think that liking generosity is important, I should become one who has the heart of discipline and hearing.” Thus it was said. In the Maitreya Lion's Roar Sutra, it is also said: “Maitreya, in the later age, in the last five hundred years of the later age, the monk does not guard the body

Some who have no meditation, no cultivation of mind, no cultivation of discipline, and no cultivation of wisdom will appear. They go to homes for the sake of Dharma robes and alms, with gifts of flowers, gifts of fruits, gifts of leaves, gifts of utensils, and gifts of repayment for deeds done. A loving monk should not be like a garland, nor should he be like a slave or a worker. A loving monk who wishes to go to homes should not send other gifts except for going with the gift of Dharma. He should be learned, deeply engaged in the scriptures, fearless, without greed, without pretense, without flattery, without possessiveness, and having generated joy in the Dharma, then he should go to homes. Having gone to homes, he should proclaim the praises of the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, and proclaim the praises of generosity, discipline, patience, diligence, meditation, and wisdom. Except for the gift of speaking the Dharma, he should not give gifts for the sake of houses, for the sake of fields, for the sake of gain, for the sake of comfortable knowledge, the words of kings, the words of thieves, the words of villages, the words of cities, the words of regions, the words of boys, the words of girls, or other gifts of words. Loving one, if someone were to fill this three-thousand great thousand world realm with the seven precious things and give it to a son or daughter of good family, and having gathered together all the pleasant utensils that exist in the three-thousand great thousand world realm, and give them to that son or daughter of good family, so much wealth and so many pleasant utensils would not cause him to have affection or help for that son or daughter of good family, but if he were to let him hear just one four-line verse, and lead it into the consciousness of his ear, even if it were only hearing and he had not yet gained faith, that is

It is said that for that son or daughter of good family, it will increase and benefit, and will greatly increase love. It is also said in the Sutra of the Buddha's Vinaya Pitaka: Shariputra, eating one's own thigh meat or shoulder meat when hungry is not considered a fault, because one does not know what will happen. Enjoying generosity with faith is not like that. Why is that? Shariputra, I allow generosity with faith to those who are practitioners and those who are liberated, but not to others. Shariputra, by how much is one a practitioner? By how much is one liberated? If one thinks that one should completely be liberated from suffering without attachment in this very life, that is a practitioner. Abandoning in order to abandon non-virtuous dharmas and to manifest virtuous dharmas, and like one's head or clothes being on fire in order to become accustomed to the noble path, that is a practitioner. If one believes that all dharmas are empty, and especially inclines towards the three doors of liberation, emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, that is a practitioner. Having the nature of seeking and asking what is good, putting on great armor, and striving for unsurpassed perfect complete enlightenment, that is to be diligent in the limbs of perfect enlightenment. Those who have entered the path will think like this: one should obtain the fruit of stream-entry, and similarly, up to obtaining the state of an Arhat. Thinking like this, abiding in that activity, in order to fully understand virtuous dharmas, abiding with higher intention, this is merely a practitioner. Those who are liberated from the three lower realms, stream-enterers, once-returners, non-returners, and Arhats, those who have accomplished what needs to be done, are called liberated. Shariputra, those who study the three trainings are called liberated, and they also receive generosity with faith. Shariputra, by these good deeds one is a practitioner, and by these one is liberated, where are such practitioners and such liberated ones?
