field. Such sutras as these are spoken only for our sake, not for others. Why is that? Because we alone perceive such things. Shariputra! This is the Dharma of a disciplined monk, unmixed with defilements. Having heard this, he will initially generate anger. Overwhelmed by his husband, he will generate disbelief in the Dharma-speaking monk, slandering the sutras spoken by the Tathagata, saying, "This is not spoken by the Buddha," causing people to misunderstand. Moreover, that sutra says: Shariputra! You should understand this, you should comprehend this. If a person is endowed with such unwholesome ten paths of action, constantly and continuously accumulates a mass of non-merit for a hundred years, it is not comparable to a disciplined monk who covers himself with the banner of a hermit, and enjoys food given in faith for one day and night. Then this unwholesome root will become even greater. If a disciplined monk enjoys food given in faith for one day and night, then he will make the unwholesome roots of those even greater. Moreover, that sutra says: Shariputra! Furthermore, a monk who violates discipline delights in frivolous talk, is fond of frivolous talk, is jealous, has a retinue of those who violate discipline, associates with those who violate discipline, does not delight in hearing the words of discipline, does not conform to such profound sutras, is displeased with those who speak this sutra, is always fond of arguing, does not delight in the true Dharma, looks around in all directions, covers his face with his hands, gazes into the sky, rises from his seat and leaves, slanders the words of the Tathagata, and is angry with those who speak the Dharma. He, with unwholesome deeds, evil actions of body, speech, and mind, will fall into the lower realms. Shariputra! This is also the violation of discipline of a monk who violates discipline.

This is the eighth fault, universally entered in order to completely perfect the evil realms. Shariputra, furthermore, a bhikkhu who is immoral takes the teacher who proclaims virtues as the main one. He takes the preceptor who praises fame, sound, and verses as the main one. He makes a living by proclaiming the name of being virtuous, and is very greedy for offerings and retinues. For example, like a crow, in the name of the Sangha, he accomplishes his own Dharma robes, alms, dwelling, medicine for sickness, and implements. He is diligent in supernatural powers and the coquetry of the body. He is shameless and without scruples. He speaks vulgar words, and his hands and feet are frivolous. He is of low lineage. He relies on women. He does not rely on men. He is extremely intimate, so he has no respect. Even gods, nagas, and yakshas do not speak his praise. Even the Buddhas, the Bhagavat, do not speak his praise. He is brave in harming, and does everything with the name of the Sangha. Shariputra, such a person desires the freedom of the Sangha. Whatever is praised, he speaks without being asked. He seeks Dharma robes. He is diligent in looking for the faults of other virtuous people. He does the same things. He holds non-Dharma and accepts non-Dharma. He likes assemblies. He makes disputes blaze. Shariputra, this is also the ninth fault of the immoral conduct of an immoral bhikkhu, universally entered in order to completely perfect the evil realms. Shariputra, furthermore, a bhikkhu who is immoral is a instigator of disputes. He obtains joy through fighting, and is attached to Dharma robes. He goes to evil realms and is attached to the pleasure of sleep. He rejoices when he obtains praise, and is intimate with the houses of friends and the houses that give alms. He is jealous of houses and jealous of dwellings. What is the reason for this? Alas, these are mine.

Because they think in their hearts that it doesn't matter if those monks don't know. It is hating the precepts. They always like the broken precepts, and especially praise giving, but not precepts, patience, diligence, meditation, wisdom, and peace. For the secluded places of monasteries, it is not slightly in terms of meaning or slightly in terms of letters, but they strive to do what is not praised by monks who know shame. They do not praise monks who have the qualities of training, either slightly in terms of meaning or slightly in terms of letters, and always find fault. They have joined the ranks of those who speak of lineage. Mentioning former relatives, and for what reason the Dharma is taught so stingily. Speaking with a hesitant tongue, not abandoning one's own people, being quickly overwhelmed by many people, and being displeasing. Slandering those who have precepts, not relying on men and women who teach instructions. They do not like this kind of sutra, and those who uphold this kind of sutra, and those who teach it. They also hate and dislike those who like and are satisfied with teaching this kind of sutra, therefore they do not speak of the praise of precepts. They do not go near those who teach this kind of sutra. Even if they go, they quickly return, and teach without respect. Speaking randomly, and speaking intimately to lay people who are not relatives. They make distinctions for the sake of power, and slander the side that has precepts. Shariputra, this is also the tenth fault of a monk's broken precepts, which is to universally join in order to fully realize the lower realms, so it was said. Again, in that same sutra, it says: Shariputra, therefore, the Tathagata does not elaborately teach this kind of sutra for the sake of those foolish people. What is the reason for that?
