Shariputra, these individuals should be recognized as being like vomit in this Dharma discipline. Those who possess impure bodily actions, impure speech actions, and impure mental actions, and whatever impure livelihood they have, will fall into the hells of sentient beings after their body is destroyed and they die. These are what the Buddhas, the Shravakas of the Buddhas, and likewise others who seek virtue and those who wish to attain complete nirvana should completely abandon. Shariputra, for example, if red sandalwood is placed in a vessel filled with vomit, it will become impure and despised. Furthermore, in the same sutra, Shariputra, furthermore, a monk with broken vows, knowing such authentic sutras spoken by the Tathagata, will not find joy or satisfaction, and will especially harm himself. By constantly looking at his own unblemished pot, he will consume himself with doubt.
