I am without compassion, constantly violent, and possessed of an extremely violent mind. When does he enter a village or a rural area, or a city, or a town, or a region? At that time, he thinks like this: "If only all the piles of wealth of others could become mine!" He thinks like this, and he wanders around seeking to obtain those things. Shariputra, similarly, a renunciate who is like a thief is also constantly greedy, oppressed by the power of attachment, not knowing satisfaction with his own gains, and hoping for the gains of others. When does he enter a village or a rural area, or a city, or a town, or a region? He enters for the sake of gain, not for the sake of the Dharma. All his behavior is shown to be like that of a thief. It is like hiding and being afraid, thinking, "If other monks know that I, a monk, have broken my vows, it will not be good. If it becomes known, I will be expelled from the recitation of the Pratimoksha Sutra." He is constantly afraid and constantly fearful, and all his behavior is deceptive. The gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, etc., will know: "The thief is coming! The thief is going! The thief is standing! The thief is walking! The thief is sitting! He is sleeping! He is taking the Dharma robes! The thief is going to the village! He is coming out of the village!" The thief is eating! The thief is drinking! The thief is shaving his head!" Thus it will be known. Shariputra, in this way, the gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, etc., will know that all of his behavior is not proper, and it will be thoroughly investigated. Having known this, they will also generate great compassion for him, saying, "Alas, how amazing! Such sinful monks will cause the teachings of the Blessed One Shakyamuni to decline." They will mock him and speak unpleasant words. But for those who possess discipline and qualities, the gods, nagas, yakshas, gandharvas, etc., will also greatly respect them, thinking, "These are the ones who fully uphold the teachings." Shariputra, a renunciate who is like a thief, having renounced in this teaching, if he does not generate even a single mind of renunciation and freedom from desire, what need is there to mention attaining the fruit?

e (meaningless) is nowhere to be found, saying, "Light Protector (འོད་སྲུངས་) is like a thieving monk." Emphasizing the way of life that is completely pure. In the Sutra of Maitreya's Lion's Roar, it is also said: The exhalations of those Light Protectors (འོད་སྲུངས་) should be spoken of, and upon hearing this, yogis and practitioners will be delighted and satisfied. Whichever son or daughter of the Light Protector lineage, in the realms of the four great continents, for all sentient beings as numerous as they are, for a kalpa or more, with all the means of happiness, respectfully serving, regarding as a guru, depicting and offering, is superior to one who has truly entered, whose discipline is completely pure, and whose livelihood is completely pure. Whatever a giver gives with faith, even just a water vessel, if it is possessed by them, then their accumulation of merit will be far greater than that. For all sentient beings in the realms of the four great continents, for a kalpa or more, with all the means of happiness, respectfully serving, regarding as a guru, depicting and offering, that is not like the above. In the Cloud of Jewels Sutra, it is also said: Son of good lineage, possessing ten qualities, a Bodhisattva is one whose livelihood is completely pure. What are the ten? They are: being free from hypocrisy and flattery in seeking gain, being free from gain through hints, being free from gain through deception, being free from gain through solicitation, being free from gain sought improperly, being free from gain that is not in accordance with the Dharma, being free from gain that is not completely pure, not being attached to gain, not being defiled by gain, not having a nature of complete cessation, and being content with gain according to the Dharma. Son of good lineage, how is it that a Bodhisattva is free from hypocrisy and flattery in seeking gain? Son of good lineage, here, a Bodhisattva, in order to obtain gain, does not act hypocritically with the body, does not act hypocritically with speech, and does not act hypocritically with the mind. How is it that one does not act hypocritically with the body? A Bodhisattva performs giving and giving of
