Moreover, there is no (unwillingness), possessing the ability to do so, and being sent by oneself for preparation, for the sake of giving, before completely giving away possessions, one also practices giving oneself. One also causes other beings to give, showing that one is not lazy. One does not cause other beings to give, nor does one send (them). Knowing that a large crowd of beggars has gathered, whether they possess discipline or are undisciplined, they are all gathered and settled. From the elderly to the young, in order, they repeatedly go back and forth, giving away all the possessions to be given. Although a Bodhisattva possesses many vast and prosperous enjoyments, they will not give sparingly. They do not give to others in order to harm them. They do not give in order to scold, be angry, beat, threaten, slander, kill, bind, punish with penalties, imprison, or expel. A Bodhisattva is joyful even before giving, and is also joyful in mind when giving, and has no regrets afterwards. They do not give deceptive gifts to those sentient beings who desire things that are falsely made to resemble jewels, mani jewels, lapis lazuli, conch shells, coral, amber, and so on. The Bodhisattva's giving, whether the possessions to be given are few or many, from the beginning, there is nothing in their mind that is not given to all sentient beings. Later, when beggars regard their possessions as precious, it is as if they are being taken away from the Bodhisattva. A Bodhisattva gives at the appropriate time, not at an inappropriate time. They give what is suitable for themselves and others, not what is unsuitable. They give in accordance with the Dharma, not in a way that is not in accordance with the Dharma. They give with an undistracted mind, not with a distracted mind. A Bodhisattva does not mock beggars, nor does he despise them, nor does he make them feel ashamed. They do not have an angry face, but a cheerful face, first smiling and then speaking frankly. They do not give by boasting about giving.

He also quickly gives to his Lhagor. The Bodhisattva creates opportunities himself for those who have not asked, and gives to others whatever they want. He also grants the requests of those who ask. The Bodhisattva does not give with corrupt wisdom, but only gives with wise giving. What is the wise giving of a Bodhisattva? Here, the Bodhisattva has things to give, and even before a beggar comes, he generates the thought: If two kinds of people come to beg me, one who is happy and not poor, with protectors and support, and one who is miserable and poor, without protectors and support, what should I do? If I have the resources to satisfy both and fulfill their wishes, then I will satisfy both and fulfill their wishes. If I do not have the resources to satisfy both or fulfill their wishes, then I will give up the happy one and give to the miserable one. I will give up the one who is not poor and has protectors and support, and give to the one who is poor and has no protectors and no support. Having generated this thought, he acts according to how he generated it. Even if he cannot fulfill the wishes of the happy beggar, he relies on his previous thought of generating the mind, and says to the beggar: I have already promised to give this object to the miserable one, because I have already made a vow, so I will give this to him, it is not that I do not want to give to you. Therefore, good-looking one, please do not be angry with me, he comforts him in this way and then gives to the other. Furthermore, the Bodhisattva has things to give, if in a stingy household, and all the possessions of an extremely stingy household

In those homes that are attached and stingy, and have never given offerings to ascetics and Brahmins, the Bodhisattva goes and makes them truly happy and at ease, saying: 'Hey, come here! Do not accumulate wealth, but stay close to me with great benefit. My house has vast enjoyments and vast things to be given away. I desire beggars in order to perfect the perfection of generosity. If you encounter beggars, do not turn them away, but either take from my wealth the things to be given away and give them as you please, or bring those beggars to me. I will rejoice in the act of giving.' Having heard this, they no longer accumulate wealth, and are delighted, thinking: 'This noble son will make us happy.' And they will do likewise. Thus, that Bodhisattva plants in them the seed for eliminating the stain of miserliness in the future. Through gradually becoming accustomed to it and being skilled in the means of wisdom going before, they themselves will also give away small amounts of wealth, and by relying on small non-attachment, they will attain the middle, and by relying on the middle, they will attain the great. Furthermore, if the Khenpo and Acharya of that Bodhisattva, and the disciples and those who practice the same Brahma who live together, are of an attached nature or of a miserly nature, or even if they are not of a miserly nature but lack things to be given away and are impoverished by desire, then the Bodhisattva, relying on the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha, and wanting to do the deeds of merit arising from generosity, gives those things to be given away to them, and lets them do it, but does not do it himself. By doing so, that Bodhisattva himself also accumulates very great merit, and also subdues the afflictions of those who practice the same Brahma, and also fulfills the desire for Dharma of some, thereby gathering beings.
