What is it? It is the Bodhisattva's non-attachment and co-emergent mind, disregarding all implements and one's own body, and the actions of body and speech arising from this, giving away objects to be given, and giving away all faultless objects, abiding in discipline, seeing the future and observing the results, and giving each object separately to whomever wants it, one should know that this is the nature of the Bodhisattva's giving. So, what is universal giving? In short, there are two kinds of objects to be given: internal and external. Among them, completely giving away one's own body up to the soles of the feet is called the Bodhisattva's unique giving of internal objects. For the sake of those beings who live by eating vomit, the Bodhisattva eats and drinks and then vomits it out, this is called the Bodhisattva's mixed giving of internal and external objects. Apart from what has been said above, the remaining giving of objects to be given is called only the giving of external objects. Bodhisattvas, for those others who want bodies, in short, give their own bodies in two ways: by letting them do as they please, making themselves subject to others, and giving themselves to others. For example, just as some people volunteer to be slaves to others for food and clothing, Bodhisattvas, with a mind free from defilement, desire supreme Bodhi, desire to benefit and bring happiness to others, and desire to perfect the Paramita of giving, therefore they let them do as they please, making themselves subject to others and giving themselves away, and to those who want hands, feet, eyes and heads, and limbs and small limbs, and to those who want flesh and blood and tendons, even to those who want the soles of the feet, they give them away. Bodhisattvas give external objects to sentient beings in two ways

Generously giving in order to completely relinquish and allow enjoyment at will, and giving with the intention of completely giving everything in order to control it. However, Bodhisattvas do not indiscriminately give all internal and external things to sentient beings in every way. So, what of the two kinds of internal and external things does a Bodhisattva give to sentient beings? What does he not give? How does he give? How does he not give? Of those internal and external things, whatever giving only brings happiness to sentient beings, but does not bring benefit, or does not bring happiness and does not bring benefit, that a Bodhisattva does not give to others. Whatever giving brings benefit, but happiness is uncertain, or brings both happiness and benefit, that a Bodhisattva gives to others. Thus, this is a brief explanation of giving and not giving. From here onwards, it should be understood as a detailed classification. Here, a Bodhisattva does not give himself to do things that harm others, deceive others, cause others to be forced to do things unreasonably, make others dependent, or make others reliant. A Bodhisattva also does not agree to completely give up his own life a hundred times, a thousand times, or countless times for others. However, in order to follow the instructions of others, in order to please others, he does not harm others, kill others, or deceive others. Even if a Bodhisattva's intention is pure, starting from giving, if there are many things to do that benefit sentient beings, even if someone comes to beg for his body, limbs, and hands and feet, he will not give his body, limbs, and hands and feet. Why is that? Because even if a Bodhisattva's intention is pure, starting from giving, he will not have any hesitation to think, "This should be given, this should not be given" for any reason. Therefore, when the Bodhisattva

In order to purify the mother, if one disregards the needs of sentient beings and does not give, it is because his intention is pure. One disregards the needs of sentient beings and does not give. To those gods of the demonic class who come to beg with the intention of causing harm, one does not cut off one's own body and limbs to give, in order not to harm them themselves and in order not to become a great body. Just as it is with the gods of the demonic class, so it should be understood with the sentient beings who are taught by them. A Bodhisattva does not cut off his own body and limbs to give to those who are faulty and mentally disturbed. Those who are neither abiding in their own minds nor begging for desire, it is because their minds are not independent, but are merely deranged, therefore one does not give. Apart from those situations, for desires that are contrary to those situations, a Bodhisattva, in order to make his own body merely controlled by others, will also cut off limbs and hands and feet and give them away completely. The Bodhisattva's giving and not giving of inner things should be understood as such. As for external things, a Bodhisattva, for poison, fire, weapons, and alcohol, whatever is harmful to sentient beings, if they want to beg for the purpose of harming themselves or harming others, then one does not give to the beggars. For poison, fire, weapons, and alcohol, whatever is beneficial to sentient beings, if the Bodhisattva wants to beg for the purpose of benefiting himself or benefiting others, then one gives to the beggars. A Bodhisattva also does not give to others things that others do not trust. A Bodhisattva also does not act as a matchmaker, enticing the wives of others and giving them to others. One also does not give food and drink that contain living beings. A Bodhisattva, for things that should be given, whatever is pleasing, playful, and harmful to sentient beings, the Bodhisattva also
