In order to obtain and seek essence from a body devoid of essence, Bodhisattvas completely relinquish and give away flesh and blood. In order to fully tame qualities such as gentleness, smoothness, fineness, and a color like that of gold, Bodhisattvas give and bestow their skin. Because it is non-existent, therefore it is inexhaustible. Giving is completely indestructible, therefore it is inexhaustible. Giving is universally unentered, therefore it is inexhaustible. Giving is immeasurable, therefore it is inexhaustible. Giving is vast, therefore it is inexhaustible. Giving is abiding, therefore it is inexhaustible. Giving is without limit, therefore it is inexhaustible. Giving is without fault, therefore it is inexhaustible. Giving is not contemptuous, therefore it is inexhaustible. Giving is unconquerable, therefore it is inexhaustible. Giving is unsuppressed, therefore it is inexhaustible. Giving is given to the wisdom of all-knowing, therefore it is inexhaustible. Giving is practiced for the sake of all-knowing, therefore it is inexhaustible. Venerable Shariputra, this is called the inexhaustible giving of the Bodhisattvas, thus it was said. In the Sutra of the Jewel Cloud it is also said: Son of good family, if one possesses ten qualities, the Bodhisattva is the perfection of giving. What are the ten? They are: the perfection of Dharma giving. The perfection of fearlessness giving. The perfection of material giving. The perfection of giving that does not expect return benefits. The perfection of compassionate giving. The perfection of non-contemptuous giving. The perfection of respectful giving. The perfection of offering and service giving. The perfection of non-abiding giving. The perfection of completely pure giving. Son of good family, how is the Bodhisattva the perfection of Dharma giving? Son of good family, here, the Bodhisattva, with a mind free from defilement, upholds and fully understands all Dharmas, not for the sake of gain and respect, not for the sake of seeking the benefit of knowledge, not for the sake of fame, otherwise it is not
