That evil nature is always afflicted by disease, poverty, and short life. Another fault of healing is that minor ailments such as wind, bile, and phlegm are easy to cure, not having been latent from the beginning. They do not cause beings of the same kind to fall into evil destinies, and they perish when the body decays. Those are ordinary people who do not possess learning. Evil monks who claim to be monks treat, but for what purpose do they shave their hair and beard, and for the supreme purpose wear robes and renounce the world. They do not treat the desire, hatred, and ignorance that have been latent in the body from the beginning. Those that cause him suffering will not burn when the body burns, nor perish when it decays, but will follow him like a shadow, causing him to fall into the five realms of existence. Having abandoned the three great faults of desire, hatred, and ignorance, they harm others, thinking of others as evil people, deceiving their own minds, such renunciation is meaningless. For example, if a foolish, weak, friendless, and penniless person is oppressed by a powerful enemy, can he repel the enemy with wealth? He cannot eliminate an extremely powerful enemy with force, but will be conquered by it. Foolish ordinary people, with low intelligence and lacking learning, disregard the threat of the enemy, but are frightened by the threat of other weaker enemies, thereby generating strength. Similarly, a foolish person, with low intelligence, is dissolute and unrestrained in other matters, and the enemy will take advantage of this. Similarly, an evil monk who claims to be a monk tolerates his enemies—powerful desire, hatred, and ignorance—which possess various diligence, follow and abide in other worlds, are ignorant, get along well with companions, operate together with discrimination, are very powerful and do not follow others. For what purpose do they completely abandon their own relatives, friends, and wives to renounce the world, and having abandoned them, how do I

If, in order to destroy our own wind, bile, and phlegm, one were to exhaust other possessions, then, for such a distracted person, the Lord of Death will appear. Those who are bound by the rope of desire, extremely unrestrained, very attached to other things, with great desire, and whose wisdom is distracted, the powerful enemies that lead them to the next world—the three, attachment, hatred, and ignorance—will follow. Therefore, having recognized these faults, one should not engage in healing. If one must heal, one should engage in mental healing that leads to excellent bliss. Then, at that time, the Bhagavan spoke in verses: Like this, wind and so forth do not become faults, but desire and so forth are considered faults. Wind and so forth do not cause people to fall into the lower realms. The fault of the mind is a great fault, it always points to the lower realms. Therefore, pacifying these is good; pacifying wind and so forth is not here (meaning not the most important). Having completely abandoned one's own affairs, and engaging in the affairs of others, that person will die quickly and will be despised by the wise. When the body is destroyed, the wind and so forth of sentient beings will also be destroyed, but in thousands of lifetimes, desire and so forth will not be pacified. Therefore, pacifying desire is good; pacifying wind and so forth is not here (meaning not the most important). From completely pacifying desire, one obtains permanent virtue. Whoever heals sentient beings, that is a doctor; merely healing the body is not a doctor. Healing the mind is difficult to understand; the auspiciousness of worldly people is not like that. Therefore, the Bhagavan Kashyapa said that because of this reason, renunciates should not engage in healing. Engaging in healing is like sentient beings falling into hell, falling into faults. Other faults of healing include: being conquered by desire, relying on rival doctors, becoming arrogant, slandering rival doctors, destroying livelihood, falling into the cause of evil paths. Like this, being conquered by defilements, a person with strong mental power, his ignorance will become even stronger. Because of ignorance...
