Therefore, if one carries on their head or shoulders for eons, the accumulation of merit thus produced is not even a sixteenth part of the mind of enlightenment. Those who are without sorrow and seek enlightenment, the nature of those people is such, those people always become the most excellent beings, where is there any incomparable superiority for those people? Therefore, having heard such a Dharma, respectfully aspire to wisdom, numerous accumulations of merit will arise, and one will quickly attain unsurpassed enlightenment. Thus it is said. Also in the Ocean of Intelligence Sutra: Sharadvati's son, just as the offspring of a venomous snake does not need a companion to devour. Sharadvati's son, similarly, a Bodhisattva who is a beginner also does not need a companion to perfectly gather the limbs of enlightenment, and perfectly gathers the limbs of enlightenment as one and without duality. Sharadvati's son, just as hundreds of thousands of fireflies cannot overwhelm the radiance of the sun. Sharadvati's son, similarly, all afflictions also cannot overwhelm the radiance of the wisdom of a Bodhisattva. Sharadvati's son, just as a small antidote to poison can pacify a great deal of poison. Sharadvati's son, similarly, the small antidote of the wisdom of a Bodhisattva can pacify a great deal of the poison of afflictions. Sharadvati's son, just as a stream of water flowing from space with the same taste changes its flavor due to the differences in containers. Sharadvati's son, similarly, a Bodhisattva also perfectly accomplishes the wisdom of liberation, which has the same taste, but teaches different Dharmas to beings with different faculties. Sharadvati's son, just as where gold appears in the Jambu River, all jewels become dull. Sharadvati's son, similarly, where the jewel of a Bodhisattva appears, all Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas become dull. Thus it is said. Also in the Sutra on Entering the Determined and Undetermined Seals: Manjushri, any Bodhisattva.

To fully establish all sentient beings in all realms of the ten directions in the state of solitary Buddhas. Manjushri, if another Bodhisattva who has faith in the Great Vehicle even increases the roots of virtue planted in the Buddha's place, this one will generate immeasurable merit even more than that, thus he spoke. Also, in the Jewel Heap Sutra: Ananda, therefore, if one wishes to fully uphold the Three Jewels, one should fully embrace the Bodhisattvas. One should gather the Bodhisattvas in truth. Ananda, seeing this meaning, the Thus-Gone Ones do not generate the perception of sons towards the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas. Why is that? Ananda, if this three-thousand great thousand world were filled with Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, there would not be one among them who, like me, would vow to take care of you sentient beings as guests. After I have manifestly awakened to the Unsurpassed, Perfectly Complete Enlightenment, I will liberate all beings who wander in samsara from all suffering. There is no one who would breathe life into all sentient beings. Ananda, what do you think? If the hands and feet of a person are cut off, will that person live? He replied: Blessed One, he will live. He said: If someone's heart is taken out, will he live? Blessed One, he will not. He said: Ananda, just as the hands and feet are, so are my Shariputra and Maudgalyayana. Just as the heart is, so are my Bodhisattvas. Ananda, if a Bodhisattva rides in a chariot and enjoys playing with the five sense objects, and no one drives that chariot, the Thus-Gone One himself will drive the chariot of that Bodhisattva with his head. Ananda, even if the elders Shariputra and Maudgalyayana abide in the three doors of liberation for a kalpa or more than a kalpa, the Thus-Gone One will not be pleased to serve and honor them. Ananda, whichever Bodhisattva to the five desirable qualities

Furthermore, having defeated all defilements, the time when the ten powers of the Tathagata are perfected, and the four fearlessnesses and the eighteen unmixed qualities of the Buddha are perfected, is present. Moreover, the Shravakas do not enter into the teachings of the Buddhas, nor are they able to don great armor for the sake of all sentient beings. Therefore, the Tathagata is such that, solely out of compassion for all sentient beings, he teaches the true acceptance of Bodhisattvas for the benefit and happiness of all sentient beings. Kunda, for example, the son of a non-principal queen of a Chakravartin king should be regarded as my two sons, Shariputra and Maudgalyayana, and other Shravakas. For example, the son of a principal queen, endowed with the characteristics of a Chakravartin, should be regarded as a Bodhisattva, so it is said. In the Perfection of Wisdom Sutra, it is also said: Kausika, a son or daughter of a noble family, if someone were to establish the sentient beings of Jambudvipa in the fruit of stream-entry, up to the state of a Pratyekabuddha. A son or daughter of a noble family, if someone were to establish one sentient being in unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, then they would generate even more merit. Why is that? Because they will cause the lineage of the Buddha to continue. Kausika, whatever son or daughter of a noble family establishes someone in unsurpassed, perfect, and complete enlightenment, they accumulate much merit, so it is said. In the Sutra of the Heap of Jewels, it is also said: Light Protector, just as the chick of the Kalavinka bird, even though it is inside the eggshell and its eyes have not yet opened, overwhelms all the flocks of birds with its deep and melodious sound. Light Protector, likewise, when a Bodhisattva first generates the mind, even though they are inside the eggshell of ignorance, and their eyes are covered by the darkness of karma and afflictions and the haze of dimness, they overwhelm the Shravakas and Pratyeka with the sound of the practice of dedicating the roots of virtue.
