O brave one, the generation of the mind towards omniscience is like the king of jewels, the great jewel that gathers all jewels. Thinking and dedicating all roots of virtue to omniscience by those that exist in the mind-stream, to some extent, will become meaningless; such a situation does not exist, that is impossible. If the mind of enlightenment is completely abandoned, then all roots of virtue will also dry up. Thus it is said. Son of the lineage, for example, as long as the light of the sun and moon shines, then wealth, grain, kinds of jewels, gold, silver, flowers, incense, garlands, clothes, and whatever enjoyments there are, none of them can be worth the great jewel, the king of power. Similarly, as long as the wisdom of omniscience illuminates the realm of the Dharmadhatu in the three times, then all the roots of virtue, whether with outflows or without outflows, of gods, humans, hearers, and solitary realizers, none of them can be worth the great jewel of the mind of enlightenment, the king of power. Thus it is said. Son of the lineage, for example, there is a kind of mercury called "appearing as gold," and one ounce of it can turn a thousand ounces of iron into gold. That one ounce of mercury cannot be exhausted or turned into iron by that thousand ounces of iron. Similarly, the essence of the mind of enlightenment, held by the wisdom of dedicating all roots of virtue, exhausts all the iron of the obscurations of karma and afflictions, and makes all phenomena appear in the color of omniscience. However, that one essence of the mind of enlightenment cannot be defiled or exhausted by all the iron of karma and afflictions. Thus it is said. Son of the lineage, for example, even if a diamond jewel is broken, it still surpasses all excellent gold ornaments. Similarly, all

Even if the bodhicitta, like a vajra jewel, is broken due to wrong thoughts, it still surpasses the golden ornaments of all Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. Son of good family, for example, even if a vajra jewel is broken, it still dispels all poverty. Similarly, even if the bodhicitta, like a vajra jewel, is broken due to lack of diligence, it still dispels all the poverty of samsara, as it is said. In the Maitreya Entering Sutra, it is also said: After such a request, the Bhagavan said to the Bodhisattva Mahasattva, the greatly compassionate one, as follows: Son of good family, has the Bodhisattva violated other precepts of the Tathagata? Has he committed the offenses of the four downfalls that I have spoken of? Has he properly taken up and abided by the path of the ten non-virtuous actions? Even if he has committed the five heinous crimes, if that Bodhisattva has not abandoned or forsaken the bodhicitta, and does not generate a mind with signs or a mind of attachment, then that Bodhisattva is truly virtuous, his virtue is not diminished, his virtue is not mixed, his virtue is not broken, his virtue is not torn, and his virtue is without defilement, and should be upheld. This is also the conduct and training of the Bodhisattva in each and every aspect. Why is that? Because these do not obstruct the Bodhisattva's enlightenment. Even if a Bodhisattva generates existence in samsara by committing sinful actions, nevertheless, the more a Bodhisattva generates existence in samsara, the more he perfects the six paramitas. Even if a Bodhisattva has trained in the precepts as established by the Tathagata, if he relies on the mind of a Shravaka, the mind of a Pratyekabuddha, or a view with signs, then the Bodhisattva will fall away from the precepts of a Bodhisattva. Son of good family, therefore, if a Bodhisattva does not abandon the bodhicitta and does not generate a mind with signs,

The Bodhisattva who has arisen is practicing and learning in the various doors of the Bodhisattva. Son of lineage, furthermore, the mind of harmful anger is a fault of the Bodhisattva. To do unfair deeds to sentient beings is a fault of the Bodhisattva. To perceive sentient beings and all dharmas as different is a fault of the Bodhisattva. One-sided love that relies on focusing on sentient beings is a fault of the Bodhisattva. Being unable to tolerate emptiness is a fault of the Bodhisattva. Thinking, 'I will give to this one, I will not give to that one,' that is a fault of the Bodhisattva. Thinking, 'I will offer to this one, I will not offer to that one,' that is a fault of the Bodhisattva. Thinking, 'I will teach the Dharma to this one, I will not teach the Dharma to that one,' that is a fault of the Bodhisattva. Thinking, 'I will attend and honor this one, I will not attend and honor that one,' that is a fault of the Bodhisattva. To what extent does the Bodhisattva make distinctions? Thinking, 'This one has morality, this one is immoral,' and distinguishing in this way, and then despising the immoral one, that is a fault of the Bodhisattva. Why is that? The Bodhisattva should have equanimity towards all sentient beings, and equanimity towards all dharmas, and should have an equal mind like the orb of the sun and moon, like the earth, water, fire, wind, and space. Having said that, do not plant inferior aspirations, that is the realm of children. Become a wise person with good wisdom, enter into supreme Bodhi, because you want to be free from suffering, for the Buddhas, the Thus-Gone Ones, if someone were to offer all the jewels filling the three thousand worlds, it is better than someone who joins their palms, dedicates their mind to Bodhi, even if they do not say it in words, that is far more excellent than the former. If someone, for countless eons, attends to all sentient beings, even that is not equal to one-sixteenth of the former. If someone joins their palms and generates the mind of Bodhi, and those guides, the Buddhas, who dwell in the ten directions, working for the benefit of the world.
