All are fearless. These ten youths are the benefit of Bodhisattva Mahasattvas who have heard much, so it is said. Also in the Sutra of the Ocean of Wisdom, it says: How does a Bodhisattva act according to what he has said? Ocean of Wisdom, one should say: I shall become a Buddha. However, it is very difficult to practice the Dharma of good Bodhi. Ocean of Wisdom, if a Bodhisattva invites all sentient beings as guests with the Dharma, saying: I shall satisfy you sentient beings with the Dharma. But he is not diligent in hearing much, and other qualities of good Bodhi, he is deceiving those sentient beings, and not acting according to what he has said. Ocean of Wisdom, if a Bodhisattva invites all sentient beings as guests with the Dharma, saying: I shall satisfy you sentient beings with the Dharma. And he is diligent in hearing much, and other qualities of good Bodhi, this Bodhisattva is acting according to what he has said. So it is said. Also in the Sutra of Gathering All Merits, it says: Bodhisattva Mahasattvas who are diligent in hearing much can defeat the four Maras. What are the four? They are the Skandha Mara, the Klesha Mara, the Death Mara, and the Deva Putra Mara. They can defeat these four Maras, so it is said. Also in that same Sutra, it says: Then, the great name Immaculate Light asked the Bhagavan: Bhagavan, among these three groups, namely the group of generosity, the group of morality, and the group of learning, which is the most excellent and the most important? The Bhagavan said: Immaculate Light, among these three groups, namely the group of generosity, the group of morality, and the group of learning, only the group of learning is the most excellent, the most supreme, the most excellent and supreme, the most abundant, the most important, the most distinguished, the most superior, the most unsurpassed, the most incomparable.

Bya. It is called the highest of the highest. Son of the lineage, for example, just as there is a single mustard seed in front of Mount Sumeru, the accumulation of generosity and the accumulation of ethics should be regarded in the same way. Just as Mount Sumeru is, so should the accumulation of learning be regarded. Son of the lineage, for example, just as there are bird tracks in the sky, the accumulation of generosity and the accumulation of ethics should be regarded in the same way. Just as the ten directions of the sky are infinite, so should the accumulation of learning be regarded. Son of the lineage, the accumulation of generosity performs two functions. What are the two? That is, eliminating poverty and accomplishing great enjoyment, these are the two functions. The accumulation of ethics also performs two functions. What are the two? That is, eliminating bad destinies and accomplishing good destinies, these are the two functions. The accumulation of wisdom also performs two functions. What are the two? That is, eliminating all views and accomplishing wisdom, these are the two functions. Son of the lineage, the accumulation of generosity is with outflows, with grasping, and is a fully ripened aggregate. Son of the lineage, the accumulation of ethics is with outflows, with grasping, and is a fully ripened aggregate. Son of the lineage, the accumulation of learning is without outflows, without grasping, and is not a fully ripened aggregate. Son of the lineage, therefore, Bodhisattvas, great beings who have initiated diligence, should be diligent in the accumulation of learning, so it is said. In the Sutra of Inexhaustible Wisdom, it is also said: Venerable Shariputra, the wisdom of the Bodhisattvas is also inexhaustible. What is the nature of that wisdom? Learning is the nature. Proper attention is the entrance. What is the nature of learning like? The nature of learning of the Bodhisattvas is eighty-fourfold, namely: The aspect of such faith, the aspect of thought, the aspect of higher thought, the aspect of application, the aspect of the virtuous friend, the aspect of no pride, the aspect of making prostrations, and
