The rank of a monk worthy of worship by gods and others, If it arises here merely by dwelling in the forest, Then the monkeys, thieves, and lions roaming in the forest, Those too would be adorned with the qualities of ascetic attainment. Moreover, I am tormented by pride and arrogance, Stinginess, hatred, always full of fears, Fearing touch, form, taste, and smell, Trembling with the fear of the skandha-mara, Burned by the fire of fear of the klesha-mara, Likewise, afraid of the fear of the deva-mara. And repeatedly gazed upon by the death-mara, Have I not come to the forest now? Therefore, this dwelling in the forest, Is it relied upon for the sake of one's own solitude? If I have all kinds of fears, How will they arise? Here, the cause of all fears, Is solely the view of the aggregation of fears. Because all fears, Arise entirely from it. Ignorance, near-delusion, confusion, And the consciousness that grasps the self in duality, All arise from perversion, Are synonyms for the view of the aggregation of fears. Regarding the five skandhas, such as form, Not grasping them as a true self, The root of the view of the aggregation of fears, Is the cause of the growth of the shoot of existence. Therefore, in order to cut off all fears, Attachment to self should be abandoned. Now, for the sake of the teachings, I should make them extremely fitting and pure. Dwelling in a vast solitary place, The trees, shrubs, young branches, etc., They do not fear anyone, I am even more than them
