It is for the sake of purification, constantly dedicate it. From what is merit known? It is said to appear in all the sutras, because it is well spoken with benefits, and because of prostrations, etc. With a pure mind, again and again, prostrating to the Buddha, having abandoned the eight unfavorable conditions, one obtains leisure and opportunity. The eight unfavorable conditions are: on this earth, even though the Victorious One has taught the sacred Dharma, one is born in the realm of animals or hungry ghosts. Furthermore, one is born among the long-lived gods, or goes to hell. One is born in a borderland, or is mute, or has wrong views. Even though one has all the good qualities of a human, one is separated from the Buddha. These are the eight unfavorable conditions. These are the rituals of prostration, etc., which increase merit. Abandon attachment, respect, and pride. With diligence and knowledge of these, do not let them diminish, and one can also go to excellent places. Among them, with what kind of faith does one draw near to the noble ones, and what does one not do that is not proper to do? Respect, this is especially what generates merit, and with what does one listen to the sacred Dharma with equanimity and stability? Abandoning pride, what is said to be the cause of increasing qualities, and with what does one think of oneself as superior and prostrate? Diligence is also like that, in order to obtain excellent qualities, not letting them diminish, making body and mind capable, with what can one quickly obtain them? These are the four, such as faith. Thus, the cause of increasing merit, the first five aspects are taught, namely faith, diligence, mindfulness, samadhi, and wisdom, which should be explained in order. What is the power of faith? That faith acts according to the Dharma. Among them, with what can the results of white and black dharmas, happiness and suffering, be produced separately in their own nature? This is the first Dharma. The sons of the Victorious One, etc., are said to be the second practice. The third is also here, with what does one not abandon all dharmas, and in all views, one is truly not attached to them in that way. Whoever has faith in the fearless and limitless dharmas of the Buddhas is the fourth, these are considered the power of faith. The dharmas of the power of faith.

Where? Having definitely generated faith, Who correctly causes growth, That is the power of diligence. The power of diligence causes all dharmas, To clearly increase, Who does not cause them to decline, That is called the power of mindfulness. The power of mindfulness causes all dharmas, Not causing them to decline, Who makes them one-pointed, That is considered the power of samadhi. The power of samadhi causes all dharmas, Again, having made them one-pointed, Individually knowing oneself, That is called the power of wisdom. These are the five powers. The five powers of faith and diligence, Having become the nature of strength, When the hordes of demons are able to conquer, Unable, that is the increase of strength. The emptiness of the Shravakas, etc., Not wishing to desire the Lesser Vehicle, Previously, for the Great Vehicle, The vow not to turn back will be proclaimed. These are the five strengths. In order to increase merit, Again, remember the Three Jewels. Remembering the Buddha, It is said to be what was requested by Delightful Wheel. The nature of the three bodies and five wisdoms, Surely thinking of the greatness of the Buddha, If an image appears in the mind, Virtue manifestly increases. These are the teachings on remembering the Buddha. In order to accomplish limitless qualities, Remember the Dharma. All the limitless qualities of the Buddhas, Completely arise from the Dharma alone. Likewise, worldly beings, And all the happiness of those beyond the world, Are completely accomplished in the Dharma, Therefore, practice with respect. How to all sentient beings, All dharmas equally enter. Likewise, to all sentient beings, I will equally accomplish that. How in day and night, The Dharma equally enters, Like the Dharma, with an equal mind, Now I also enter. Knowing that the noble and non-noble are not the same, Completely abandoning the view of fields, Just as the Dharma enters, I also enter the same nature. Sentient beings do not protect the Dharma, The Dharma protects sentient beings. The refuge of beings is the Dharma, The refuge of the Dharma is not beings. The Dharma is not afraid of existence, It does not contradict nirvana. Likewise, I also abandon all fears, and

One should follow accordingly. These are the recollections of the Dharma. The Sangha is the speaker of the Dharma. In essence, they pursue the Dharma and keep the Dharma in mind. They are the field of the Dharma, the most excellent of the Dharma. Therefore, one should recollect the Sangha. These are the recollections of the Sangha. Thus, I dedicate my body and the three things, with the arising of Bodhicitta as the preliminary, entirely to the state of omniscience. May it especially increase and expand. In order to remember oneself, and for the sentient beings who are the first karmic agents, I have shown these only in part. This is the special realm of activity of the noble ones. From the ten trainings of the Buddhas, having gathered them together, like the light of the stainless autumn moon, may whatever small amount of virtue is accumulated here, may it become the ornament of the training of beings. From the tree that gathers all the trainings, having taken only a small part, may this flower spike of training be worn in the ears of the wise. The "Flower Spike of Training" is completed. It was spoken by the great Pandit Vairocanarakṣita of Vikramaśīla. By the command of the sacred and powerful ruler, the Tibetan king Lhatsenpo Tashi Namkha Wangchuk Tsen, it was translated by the Indian Abbot Sumatikirti and the Tibetan translator Bhikshu Shama Sengyal and Lokya Yönnu Bar. Later, it was revised and finalized by the Tibetan translator Bande Marpa Chökyi Wangchuk. The Flower Spike of Training.
