Life passes like lightning in the sky, Swiftly flowing like a waterfall from a steep cliff. Beings, under the power of attachment and ignorance, In the three paths of humans, gods, and hells, Unskillfully revolve in the five realms of existence. Like the potter's wheel turning around. Constantly clinging to beautiful forms, pleasant sounds, Fragrant smells, excellent tastes, and comfortable touch. These decaying things of evil times are seized, Like a monkey caught in a hunter's snare. The pleasures of desire are full of suffering and harm, Always with fear, always enemies, with afflictions. Like the edge of a sword, like the leaves of a poisonous tree, Like a vessel of filth, abandoned by noble beings. The pleasures of desire are full of fear and afflictions, Always causing forgetfulness, creating darkness, Always causing fear, the root of suffering, Increasing the clinging vine of existence. Like a burning pit, full of fear, Thus, the wise should understand this desire. Like a great swamp, like a killing field with swords, Like honey smeared on the blade of a sword. Like the head of a snake, like a vessel of filth, Thus, the wise should understand this desire. Like bird meat, plums, like a clear tree, Like a greedy dog, always beset by enemies. These pleasures of desire are like the moon in water, Like reflections, like echoes in a valley, Like cataracts, like watching a performance, Like dreams, despised by noble beings. The pleasures of desire are momentary, unreal, Like illusions, mirages, false and untrue. Like bubbles, foam, not truly existent, The wise understand them as arising from conceptual thought. In youth, clinging to beautiful forms, Reluctant to part, this is the behavior of children. In old age, suffering, the splendor of the body destroyed, Completely abandoned, like a mountain deer in a dry land. When possessing wealth, grain, jewels, and power, Reluctant to part, this is the behavior of children. When wealth declines, suffering arises, Completely abandoned, like being robbed bare by people. Like a flowering tree and a fruit tree, The desire for generosity brings joy to people. When wealth declines, old age approaches, and they are abandoned, They will not be happy, like vultures. When possessing wealth, possessing beautiful forms, like a lord, Meeting brings suffering, the senses bring joy.

Old age brings the threat of suffering, depleting wealth. At that time, it becomes undesirable, like the lord of death. When old age makes one old, and youth vanishes, It is like trees being destroyed by lightning. Being overwhelmed by old age is like a dilapidated house filled with fear. Please quickly tell of what arises from old age. The groups of women and men are withered by old age, Like a red wind blowing through a Sala forest. Old age steals diligence, ability, and strength, Like a man sinking into the mud. Old age makes beauty ugly, Old age steals splendor, and also steals power and strength. Old age steals comfort and makes one despised, Old age brings death, and old age also steals radiance. Hundreds of diseases and the shadows of illness bring suffering, Beings are cherished, like people cherish wild animals on the mountains. Look at beings destroyed by old age and disease, Please quickly tell of the arising of suffering. Like the wind and snow at the end of winter, Stealing the radiance of plants, herbs, and forest medicines. Likewise, this disease steals the radiance of beings, And causes the senses, form, and strength to decline. Wealth, grain, and great riches are ultimately exhausted, Disease always makes beings despised. It brings harm and hates suffering, It completely torments, like the sun from the clouds. The moment of death, migration, and death-migration, Always separates from cherished and beloved lives. They do not return and will not meet again, Like the falling of annual rings from trees, like the flow of wind. Death is autonomous, making the masterless. Death steals everything, like a river carrying away trees. People depart alone, without companions, Even with fruits, there is no power. Death seizes hundreds and thousands of lives, Like a crocodile in the ocean devouring the multitude of beings. Like Garuda, elephants, and lions, Like fire consuming grass, trees, and the multitude of beings. Thus it is said. Also in the *Admonition to the King Sutra*: Great King, for example, great mountains coming from the four directions, hard, Stable, possessing essence, not collapsing, not cracking, without gaps, extremely solid, four dense mountains, Touching the sky, blocking the earth, Grinding all the grass, trees, herbs, branches, and leaves, and all Sentient beings into powder, from those (mountains), quickly fleeing or having
