I should generate the perception of the body as being like grass, trees, stumps, medicine, walls, wood, illusions, and magic. I should generate the thought: Who would be afraid of this? Who would be terrified of this? If he feels fear and terror, then, in this way, this body has neither self, nor sentient being, nor life, nor birth, nor nourishment, nor husband, nor person, nor is it born of power, nor does it have a son of power. Thus, what is called fear is an unreal imputation, and I will not cling to that unreal imputation. One should properly examine the body. Just as in a solitary place, grass, trees, stumps, medicine, and forests exist, without clinging because there is no "mine," similarly, the Bodhisattva also does not cling because there is no "mine," thereby knowing that all dharmas are solitary places, and should draw near and abide in them. Why? Because abiding in a solitary place cuts off afflictions, because there is no clinging due to the absence of "mine." Similarly, combining it, householder, if a Bodhisattva renounces and learns that the Buddha has taught to abide in a solitary place, then he should abide in a solitary place, where all virtuous dharmas will be perfected. After the roots of virtue are firmly established, he should later enter villages, cities, towns, regions, lands, palaces, and so forth, and teach the Dharma. Similarly, combining it, householder, if a Bodhisattva renounces in order to learn scriptures and recitation, and enters the Sangha, then he should be respectful there. He should be respectful towards the Khenpos and Acharyas, as well as the elders, middle-ranking, and newly ordained monks. He should be skilled in discipline. He should be diligent, doing his own work, and not causing suffering to others. He should not be averse to offerings. He should think like this: the Tathagata, Arhat, Perfectly Enlightened Buddha, is worshipped by the world including gods, the world including demons, the world including Brahma, and the beings including ascetics and Brahmins, and the beings including gods, humans, and asuras, becoming a worthy recipient of offerings, and he should serve all sentient beings more than anyone else.

If you do not treat me with gain and respect, what need to mention those teachers of us who are unlearned but greedy for gain and respect? I should respect all sentient beings, but I should never crave the respect of any sentient being. One should contemplate in this way. Why is that? Because householders' indulgence in the gain and respect of renunciates diminishes the following of the qualities of virtue. Because those who gather together also think in this way: We gather together for the sake of gain and respect, not for the sake of the Dharma. It is said in the sutra. Again, in the same sutra, it says: If a bodhisattva householder wants to listen to the Dharma, or wants to visit the Khenpo and Acharya, and comes to the village to inquire about illness, he should generate the thought of leaving in order to make them happy. If listening and reciting depend on others, even if he lives in a monastery, he should think with a mind focused on solitude, that the one who perceives all things as solitude and is never satisfied with seeking the Dharma is the one who truly dwells in solitude. The Holy Ratnakuta Sutra also says: If a solitary bhikshu who has not attained the fruit, when venomous snakes and fierce wild animals come to him, he should not be afraid or terrified. He should think like this: From the very beginning, I have abandoned my body and life and come to a solitary place, so I should not be afraid or terrified of this. He should generate a mind of loving-kindness, completely abandon hatred, and abandon fear. If he does so, even if those snakes and wild animals kill and devour him, he should think like this: I cannot satisfy these wild animals with just a little wealth, but after they devour my flesh, they will live in happiness. I will also obtain something meaningful from this meaningless body, I have obtained
