Those who, fearing the household, manifestly renounce it, for them it is not difficult to attain this supreme Bodhi. Those who, while dwelling in the household, attain this sacred and supreme Bodhi, such Buddhas have never appeared in the past, will not appear in the future, nor do they exist now. Having abandoned royal power like the ashes of spit, desiring solitude and dwelling in monasteries, having abandoned afflictions and destroyed the armies of Mara, one attains the Bodhi that is without dust and unconditioned. Thus, having joined the order, how should one practice the Dharma? One would not offer food, drink, clothing, flowers, incense, or garlands to the supreme assemblies. Whoever intensely desires Bodhi and is disgusted with conditioned evil deeds, for the sake of sentient beings turns towards the monastery, abandoning seven steps, this is more excellent in merit than the former. Thus it is said. If one dwells in solitude desiring attachment to sentient beings of different capacities, desiring retinues and gains, etc., therefore this is taught. These beings harbor harmful thoughts towards me, the wise do not argue with children, having treated them with respect, they completely abandon children, and do not become familiar with the ways of children. No matter how long one treats children well, in the end they will become unfriendly and quarrelsome over fields, etc. Knowing the nature of children, the wise do not associate with them. The nature of children is different, it is said that they have no friendliness towards their respective parents, knowing the nature of children, the wise do not trust children here. Even if they speak words in accordance with the Dharma, they are full of anger and hatred, and are not trustworthy. Speaking excessively, this is the nature of children, having thoroughly understood that meaning, do not trust them. Children are similar to children, just as vomit is similar to vomit. The wise are together with the wise, just as butter is similar to the essence of butter. Thus it is said. It is also said that those who have no slight joy or displeasure, those people are always happy in the human world. Those who delight in forests and mountain valleys will experience the supreme bliss of a practitioner. Those who have nothing to claim as their own, those who hav

I have no clinging whatsoever, dwelling in this world like a rhinoceros horn. They move like the wind in the sky. Whoever is not attached to the world, they are most happy in the human realm. Without attachment to joy and displeasure, they are always like the wind in this place. Whoever encounters the unpleasant experiences suffering, whoever is separated from the pleasant experiences suffering. After completely abandoning these two extremes, whoever delights in the Dharma, they are happy. Thus it is said. Again, from that same source: After abandoning all the many collections of faults, the yogi always does little. The yogi is diligent and never argues. This is the virtue of dwelling in solitude. He always becomes disillusioned with conditioned things. He has no desire for anything in the world. Defilements do not increase. This is the virtue of dwelling in the forest. He never argues, always peaceful, joyful, and walks in solitude. Body, speech, and mind are also well restrained. Dwelling in solitude has many virtues. It is in accordance with liberation. It quickly realizes liberation and peace. If one dwells in the forest and relies on liberation, then dwelling in solitude will bring about all these virtues. Thus it is said. Again, from that same source: Abandoning the love of villages and cities, always rely on solitude and forests. Like a rhinoceros horn, always practice non-duality. Before long, you will attain supreme samadhi. Thus it is said. Also, in the Sutra Requested by the Noble Ruler of the Land: Abandoning the house filled with endless faults, never look at wealth. Those who possess the virtues of trees delight in solitude and subdue their senses. They do not associate with women and men anywhere. Dwelling alone like a rhinoceros, with pure thoughts, free from defilements. Those who have attained do not rejoice in what they have attained, nor are they discouraged by what they have not attained. They have few desires, content with meager sustenance, abandoning hypocrisy and pretense. Diligent and mindful for the sake of sentient beings, abiding in generosity and discipline. Seeking the wisdom of the Buddha, practicing meditation, diligence, possessing virtues, reaching the other shore. Disregarding body and life, completely abandoning the roots of suffering. With a mind as firm as a diamond, always seeking enlightenment.
