There is no punishment. Power is revealed. It can increase power and initiate diligence. Subduing becomes the place of subduing, thereby generating joy and not holding onto the mind of ignorance. Even if faults are exposed, faults are no longer exposed; even if beaten, no longer beaten; even if angry, no longer angry; even if insulted, no longer insulted. In this way, one wears the armor of contentment. Just like this, this Mahayana Sutra is a Mahayana that does not conform to all the world. Why is that? Those sentient beings are the ones who follow the ordinary. I am the one who wants to strive to break away from the ordinary. Those sentient beings are mutually discordant. I am wearing armor in order to abandon the discord of all sentient beings. Those sentient beings are masters of malice. I am completely seeking patience and tranquility. Those sentient beings deceive each other and abide in complete deception. I am completely seeking to be satisfied with wisdom. Combine it like this. Suppose all those sentient beings, thoroughly distinguished by the divisions of the ten directions, holding swords, hooks, short spears, and double-edged swords, etc., in their hands, follow behind me, whether standing, sitting, walking, or lying down in any place, as long as the mind of Bodhi can arise, or the mind of generosity, or the mind of discipline, or the mind of patience, or the mind of diligence, or the mind of meditation, or the mind of wisdom, or the mind of the root of virtue of hearing, in that place where these minds arise, I would rather have my body cut into or crushed into or destroyed into one percent of a mustard leaf, and for those sentient beings, I will not do anything else, but constantly insult, threaten, slander, belittle, speak evil words and harsh words, even so, I will not generate a mind of hatred towards any sentient being. Why is that? From beginningless time, countless cycles have been experienced. Has this body of mine ever gone to the hell realm? Has it ever gone to the animal realm? Has it ever gone to the world of Yama? Even if reborn as a human, it has become defiled by the filth of the food of desire, lacking the conditions to hear the Dharma, and is a light life.

Because its use is meaningless, it becomes a living thing. Limbs and minor limbs separate into a hundred forms, cutting, splitting, separating, doing many things, but I have done my own thing from that basis. I have not done anything else. If all these beings eventually split, cut, completely destroy, and completely crush my body into that state, I will not abandon all-knowing wisdom. I will not abandon all sentient beings. I will not abandon the desire for virtuous Dharma. What is the reason for that? Because all these physical harms of cutting the body do not even come close to one percent of the suffering of hell beings, and even the cause cannot be endured. I would rather dwell in hell than abandon the Buddha's Dharma. Similarly, I think I should abandon those dharmas that generate harmful intentions from their basis. What are those dharmas? For example, love for the body, attachment to the body, and craving for the body. If you abandon the body, you will also abandon harmful intentions. Ocean of Wisdom, the Bodhisattva Mahasattva who enters the Dharma in that way can endure the harm of all sentient beings, without being discouraged or angry. Similarly, Ocean of Wisdom, for such a Bodhisattva, cutting the body is the complete practice of the six perfections. Ocean of Wisdom, how can a Bodhisattva with skillful means cut the body and thus complete the practice of the six perfections? Whoever abandons the body, completely gives up the body, and does not care for the body, this is his perfection of generosity. Whoever, when cutting the body, pervades all sentient beings with loving-kindness and is not robbed by feelings, this is his perfection of morality. Whoever, when completely cutting the body, endures in order to liberate those who cut his body, and does not leave a wound in his heart, this is the manifestation of his power of patience, this is his perfection of patience. With diligence, he does not abandon the desire for all-knowing wisdom, and also maintains and increases mental strength well, the cycle of
