One will encounter and be endowed with five qualities. Even having fully indulged in play and enjoyment, when the Thus-Gone One previously practiced the conduct of a Bodhisattva, upon seeing beings suffering from the three lower realms and the impoverished, joy or happiness did not arise in his mind, as extensively explained. Similarly, in the world, upon seeing a son whipping a tree, parents, with compassion in accordance with their own nature, do not cling to their own happiness. In a secluded place, even if one is married, or a woman with clean hair, protected by lineage, Dharma, and banners, one will not engage in improper sexual conduct. If one accomplishes something that benefits sentient beings and does not harm them, there is no fault. Those who truly practice pure conduct, for the sake of benefit, should abandon and offer to them from afar, like roads and so forth. If that is the case, then even a Bhikshu can do it. It is not so, but rather to accomplish the benefit of sentient beings through the form of pure conduct. As it is said in the Sutra of the Noble Inexhaustible Wisdom: 'He should treat time and non-time with equanimity.' If one sees that something more beneficial to sentient beings can arise from it, then one should abandon the precepts.

Pride was cast out and abandoned. Son of lineage, those other sentient beings who will be born in the hell realms will look to the bodhisattva who is skilled in means and born in the world of Brahma, so it is said. Also, in that very text it says: If a bodhisattva sees the root of virtue of one sentient being arising, even if a downfall occurs that causes them to live in the hell realms for hundreds of thousands of kalpas, the भगवन् (bhagavan, Lord) bodhisattva should rejoice in that downfall and the suffering of the hell realms, but they should not abandon or diminish the root of virtue of that one sentient being, so it is said. Also, in that very text it says: Son of lineage, if a bodhisattva who is skilled in means commits a fault due to the influence of a bad friend, then they should train in this way: If I were to completely pass beyond sorrow with these aggregates, then my mind would also be filled with sorrow, therefore, in order to completely ripen sentient beings, I should don such armor that remains until the very end of samsara, and I should not cause my mind to be sorrowful. In whatever way I wander in samsara, in that very way I will completely ripen sentient beings. This downfall should also be restored according to the Dharma, and one should think that one will not commit the same fault again in the future. Son of lineage, if one takes a comprehensive view, even if all four root downfalls of an ordained bodhisattva have been destroyed, if a bodhisattva who is skilled in means is able to eliminate them, then I say that the bodhisattva will not fall. So it is said. This is also clear in the Cloud of Jewels Sutra, because it is permissible to kill someone who wants to commit the five inexpiable sins. Also in the Vinaya of the Hearers it says: Even in the situation of a root downfall, there is no fault in releasing deer and so forth out of compassion. If a bodhisattva develops attachment and obtains a good rebirth, then that attachment is virtuous, but anger is not like that. In the Noble Sutra of Skillful Means it says: Suppose that a bodhisattva who is a joy-maker becomes attached to an excellent woman who has wealth and beauty.

Prayers are repeatedly made: May those women who look with lustful minds completely abandon the female body and transform into beings who have abandoned men. Whoever causes other beings to fall into hell, if that person develops attachment to heroes, they will ascend to the heavens and be transformed into a male body. Look at how delightful such qualities are. Similarly, compare: Whoever generates hatred towards the virtuous and bodhisattvas who possess great fame, they can even bestow happiness from afflictions, what need is there to mention showing them respect? Thus it is said. Thus, if there are no other means to benefit sentient beings, then the faults arising from desire are also said to be not faults. In the Sutra of Skillful Means, it is also extensively explained: After acting like a prostitute, the bodhisattva treats them with equanimity and then abandons that sentient being. Those who have attained the ground should contemplate this when practicing the six perfections, not for others. Thus, it is mentioned incidentally, let it be set aside for now. Therefore, one should not make distinctions at the time of anger. In the questions of the close attendants, it was also taught: Shariputra, what are the two major transgressions with great faults for bodhisattvas? They are: having hatred and having ignorance. Similarly, compare: Shariputra, the bodhisattva should first confess the sins that are heavier than the initial ten transgressions. One should confess the existing sins that are heavier than the five transgressions. Shariputra, holding a woman's hand, looking with the eyes, and harboring harmful thoughts are also transgressions, and one should confess to one or two people. The transgressions of a bodhisattva that correspond to the five inexpiable sins, as well as the transgressions arising from women, the transgressions arising from the hand, the transgressions arising from children, the transgressions arising from stupas, the transgressions arising from the sangha, and other transgressions heavier than these, should be confessed day and night by one of the thirty-five Buddhas. Among them, the confession of transgressions is as follows: I, named so-and-so, take refuge in the Buddha, take refuge in the Dharma, take refuge in the Sangha. Thus.
