Having completely abandoned those, one will obtain the ten karmas of wisdom, so it is said. In that itself, it is well explained that the karma of wisdom is the absence of pride towards all sentient beings. In the Sutra Requested by the Noble Dhṛtarāṣṭra, it is also said: "Those fools, controlled by pride, will be born in evil realms and unfavorable conditions, and will be born into poor and lowly families, becoming blind, ugly, and of little power." In the Compendium of True Dharma, it is also said: "The realm of sentient beings is the Buddha-field of the Bodhisattvas, and from the Buddha-field, one will obtain the Dharmas of the Buddhas. It is not appropriate to have wrong views about this." And also, one should think like this: all good and bad deeds arise dependent on sentient beings. Dependent on bad deeds, the evil realms will arise. Dependent on good deeds, one will be transformed into gods and humans, one should think. Therefore, in the Jewel Casket Dhāraṇī, it is also said: "O sons of the Victorious Ones, for this, a Bodhisattva who is a beginner, a Bodhisattva who is at the very beginning, generates ten kinds of minds towards sentient beings. What are the ten? They are as follows: the mind of benefit, the mind of happiness, the mind of compassion, the mind of gentleness, the mind of love, the mind of helping, the mind of universal protection, the mind of equanimity, the mind of a teacher, and the mind of a guide. These ten kinds of minds are generated." In the Sutra of the Mudra of Entering into Increasing Faith, it is said: "One finds the breath of relief in abiding in the acceptance of oneself as a disciple of all sentient beings, and also placing other sentient beings in the acceptance of being disciples." Similarly, combining it, one finds the breath of relief in abiding in complete reverence and extreme reverence. So it is said. Therein, complete reverence and extreme reverence are precisely the absence of pride towards all sentient beings. Similarly, in the Teaching of the Noble Vimalakīrti, it is also said: "In order to be born in a completely pure Buddha-field, one should cherish all sentient beings as one cherishes a teacher." When performing actions such as spreading a seat and washing feet, also...

In order to protect against disbelief, one should cultivate the habit of cherishing and respecting in one's mind. It is also stated in the Noble Array of Trees Sutra: As soon as he sat on that great lion throne, many people would immediately turn towards him, fold their palms, and prostrate to the king. Similarly, the king proclaimed the mandala of the umbrella of the sound of all dharmas, and when he saw those beggars, he was very happy about that, from "the end of countless eons" to "it is not by attaining the liberation of the pure abode gods and abiding in the bliss of peace." Son of good family, for example, a man who indulges in desires, separated from his parents, siblings, friends, ministers, relatives, sons, daughters, and wife for a long time, wanders in the wilderness. When he wants to see them, if he meets them, he will not be satisfied with seeing them, and great joy and attachment will arise. Son of good family, similarly, the king proclaimed the mandala of the umbrella of the sound of all dharmas, and when he saw those beggars, great joy arose immediately. His mind was filled with the taste of joy and happiness. Great joy arose in his mind, from "in order to generate the thought of a single son in those beggars" to "generating the thought of parents, the thought of the place of giving, the thought of a virtuous friend, the thought of rarity, the thought of practicing austerities, the thought of cherishing, the thought of benefiting others, the thought of showing the path to enlightenment, the thought of a Khenpo, the thought of a teacher." If there is no other such method, then when going to beings and serving them, one should always remember giving, thinking: This body of mine is theirs, just as I do sweeping, smearing, etc. for my own happiness, let them use it as they please! Or, like someone who is afraid of displeasing the master, fulfills what he is told in order to please the master.
