Having become ordained, I have done what needed to be done. What was done? Afflictions were abandoned. All bonds were severed. I am completely liberated from bondage. You should confess the fault of speaking harsh words as a fault. However, that karma will be completely purified, lessened, and completely exhausted. He also confessed his faults as faults. That karma became like a mortar. Those beings you see that are like large worms were formerly attendants of monks. When they were brewing medicine, the monks spoke unpleasant words, causing them to become agitated and break the large worms, and therefore they became like large worms. Those beings you see whose waists are cut off and tied with ropes were also formerly monks. They were attached to gains. Oppressed by miserliness, they reversed the seasons, making what was for summer for winter, and what was for winter for summer. Due to the maturation of that karma, their waists are cut off and they walk tied with ropes. The third chapter, protecting those who speak the Dharma, etc. Furthermore, great harms are also spoken of in the Sutras. For example, in the Noble Ākāśagarbha Sutra, it says: Son of lineage, a king, there are five root downfalls for one who has received the royal consecration from the crown of the head. Those root downfalls will cause a king who has received the royal consecration from the crown of the head to turn all previously created roots of virtue into ashes, to fail, to fall from all places of happiness of gods and humans, and to go to the lower realms. What are the five? Son of lineage, a king who has received the royal consecration from the crown of the head, if he steals the property of a stupa, or steals the property of the Sangha, or steals what is offered to the Sangha of the four directions, or instigates others to steal, this is the first root downfall. Whoever abandons the Dharma and causes others to stop practicing the Dharma, whether it is explaining the renunciation of the Hearer Vehicle, or explaining the renunciation of the Solitary Buddha Vehicle, or explaining the renunciation of the Great Vehicle, whoever abandons and causes others to stop practicing the Dharma, this is the second root downfall. Whoever ordains for my sake, shaves his hair and beard, wears robes of ochre color, whether he takes vows or does not take vows, whether he is moral or immoral,

Or, to take away his monastic robes, or to allow him to remain at home, or to harm his body with weapons, or to imprison him, or to cause him to lose his life, this is the third root downfall. Any person of royal lineage who intentionally kills his mother, kills his father, kills an Arhat who is a Hearer of the Tathagata, splits the Sangha, or intentionally causes blood to flow from a Fully Enlightened Buddha with malicious intent, any of these five deeds of immediate retribution, this is the fourth root downfall. Any person of royal lineage who speaks false words without cause, bewildering the next world, truly holding to the path of the ten non-virtuous actions, abiding therein, and causing many other sentient beings to truly hold to the path of the ten non-virtuous actions, taming, introducing, and establishing them, this is the fifth root downfall. Similarly, by analogy, whoever destroys villages, destroys regions, destroys towns, and destroys countries, this is also a root downfall. Similarly, by analogy, for sons or daughters of good family who have truly entered the Great Vehicle as beginners, there are eight root downfalls, and these root downfalls cause those beginners who have truly entered the Great Vehicle to be confused, burning all previously accumulated roots of virtue to ashes, thus failing, falling from the state of bliss of gods and humans in the Great Vehicle, falling into the lower realms, wandering in samsara for a long time, and being separated from virtuous friends. What are the eight? Some sentient beings, due to the causes of previous misdeeds, are born in this world realm filled with the five degenerations and afflictions, their roots of virtue are small, and they rely on virtuous friends to hear this supremely profound Great Vehicle. Sons of good family, even for those of small intellect, should also cause them to generate the unsurpassed, perfect, and complete Bodhicitta, and among these, for those who are beginners in the Bodhisattva path, hearing, receiving, reading, and reciting the supremely profound Sutras that are endowed with emptiness, how they have heard and how they have understood,
