Manifesting joy in dwelling places, being content with little desire, is extreme solitude. Not dwelling among householders and renunciants, being comfortable because of few affairs and few actions, although there is no deceit. Not diligently seeking extensive learning, not diligently maturing sentient beings, not diligently listening to the Dharma. Always being lazy between the words of the Dharma and the words with clear meaning, not being of a nature that likes to inquire. Not diligently seeking any virtue. He dwells in a solitary place, and because he likes to be alone, afflictions do not spread everywhere. Merely suppressing the arising of afflictions, he feels joy, and does not practice the path to completely destroy latent tendencies. Therefore, he does not strive for his own benefit and the benefit of others. This is, O Blessed One, The Bodhisattva's dwelling in solitude, and the demon's hook that is fully in accordance with this, is the seventh. Connect it in the same way. O Blessed One, furthermore, the Bodhisattva, towards those evil friends who pretend to be virtuous friends, turns away the desire from the objects of gathering, turns away the desire from maturing sentient beings, turns away the desire from upholding the true Dharma, turns away the desire from the accumulation of merit, leads towards extreme solitude, leads towards few affairs and few actions, constantly teaches them the precepts corresponding to the Hearers and Solitary Buddhas, and does not teach them the precepts corresponding to the Great Vehicle, approaching and relying on these people, serving with reverence. When the Bodhisattva dwells in solitude, when he turns away from the Great Vehicle, he should be admonished in a way that the Bodhisattva will not be eaten by demons, leading the Bodhisattva into the defilement of admonishment. When the Bodhisattva is led into the defilement of admonishment, he leads him towards solitude, and says to him like this: Enlightenment is the result of the Bodhisattva's diligence, not the result of the lazy. If after eight or ten kalpas you have not realized the unsurpassed perfect enlightenment, then later you

It is said that one cannot realize perfect enlightenment. World Honored One, where does a Bodhisattva become lazy and attain results? World Honored One, this is the tenth hook of the demon, disguised as a virtuous friend of the Bodhisattva. Furthermore, those individuals of the Bodhisattva vehicle who are seized by the hook of the demon, delight in engaging in evil Dharma, they are happy to obtain it, and they also follow it in the same way. They rely on the inferior and are without distinction, like this: inferior beings, foolish, deaf, and mute beings, will become inferior beings. This is the eleventh hook of the demon. Thus, whoever exerts such effort but becomes extremely weary, will never become the nature of a Bodhisattva. Therefore, the Jewel Cloud Sutra says: "Here, when a Bodhisattva exerts effort in all conduct, he must exert effort in such a way that the body does not become weary and the mind does not become weary. This is called the constant effort of a Bodhisattva." What kind of effort causes weariness? It means doing heavy work with little strength, or working for a long time, or those whose faith is not fully matured doing difficult tasks, such as giving away one's own flesh. Although one has already given the body to sentient beings in this way, it is only reversed by practicing at the wrong time. Otherwise, the Bodhisattva makes those sentient beings weary, and because the seed of Bodhicitta is exhausted, the great accumulation of fruit will be exhausted. Therefore, the Noble Akasagarbha Sutra says: "Desiring at the wrong time is the work of a demon." Not at the right time does not mean not generating the mind to give up the body, because one has not become accustomed to it, one will never give. Therefore, one should abide in mindfulness in this way, and protect the body from what is contrary to the perfection of Bodhicitta, and from harming one's own benefit through ignorance, and from meat eaters and workers. For example, looking at a beautiful forest of medicinal trees.
