Oṃ. Furthermore, it says in the same text that offering flowers or drawing incense patterns to the stupas of the Tathāgatas will result in obtaining eight perfections. What are these eight? Perfect form, perfect enjoyment, perfect retinue, perfect morality, perfect samādhi, perfect learning, perfect wisdom, and perfect aspiration. Also, in the Sutra of the Heap of Jewels, it says: "All sentient beings belonging to the three realms, each individually making the height of the Tathāgata's stupa like Mount Sumeru, and each of them making offerings with all kinds of worship for as many kalpas as there are sands in the Ganges River, is less than a Bodhisattva who, without separating from the mind of omniscience, throws a single flower. That accumulation of merit will generate much more merit than the former." Furthermore, it says in the same text: "All sentient beings in the three-thousand great-thousand world system, all having rightly entered the Great Vehicle, and all having become endowed with the sovereignty of a universal monarch, with each universal monarch making a lamp container as large as the great ocean, and lighting a lamp with a wick as large as Mount Sumeru, and each individually offering such a lamp to the stupas of the Tathāgatas, is less than a Bodhisattva who, arising from the household life, anoints a lamp wick with sesame oil and holds it before the stupa of the Tathāgata. This lamp wick anointed with sesame oil is not comparable to the former lamp offering, not even to a hundredth part, and cannot be endured even to a hundredth part. All the pleasant offerings made by those universal monarchs to the Buddha and the Sangha of monks are less than a Bodhisattva who, arising from the household life, takes alms and puts them in a bowl, sharing them with those Tathāgatas. That food is much more numerous and much more precious than that. Any great kings who offer heaps of clothes as large as Mount Sumeru to the Buddha and so on,

Furthermore, if a Bodhisattva in lay life makes offerings to the Sangha, it is not as good as a Bodhisattva who has renounced the world and genuinely entered the Great Vehicle of the Buddhas, and if they offer three Dharma robes to the Sangha and to the stupa of the Tathagata, the merit of offering robes to the Sangha surpasses the former offering of robes. Moreover, if all the kings were to adorn the entire Jambudvipa with flowers and offer them to the stupa of the Tathagata, it would not be as good as if a Bodhisattva who has arisen from the household life were to offer even a single flower to the stupa of the Tathagata. This offering surpasses the former offering by a hundredfold, even up to countless times. Thus it is said in the scriptures. It is also taught in the chapter "Gradual Ascent of the Noble Ones" that upon seeing these four excellent benefits, a Bodhisattva will be delighted to make offerings to the Tathagata. What are the four? 1. I will be making offerings to the supreme object of offering; 2. Seeing me, others will also learn to do the same; 3. Offering to the Tathagata will strengthen the mind of enlightenment; 4. By seeing directly, it will become the root of virtue for the thirty-two major marks of a great being, etc. These are the four. This is the unsurpassed offering and service to the Tathagata. As it is said in the Sutra Requested by Sagaramati, "Sagaramati, these three are the unsurpassed offerings and services to the Tathagata. What are the three? They are generating the mind of enlightenment, upholding the sacred Dharma, and generating great compassion for sentient beings." As it is said in the sutra. It is also taught in the Noble Cloud of Jewels Sutra that, "Son of good family, a Bodhisattva who possesses ten qualities will be born without being defiled by the impurities of the womb. What are the ten? They are: making images of the Tathagata, repairing dilapidated stupas, offering fragrant ointments to the stupas of the Tathagata, offering bathing water with fragrance to the images of the Tathagata, and offering to the stupas of the Tathagata.

Offering whetstones and washing materials, serving parents with one's body, serving Khenpos and Acharyas with one's body, Serving those who practice Brahmacharya with one's body, and that is with a mind free from defilements, not with a mind with defilements. This root of virtue is also dedicated in this way: May all sentient beings be born from a place unpolluted by the impurities of the womb through this root of virtue. Thus, completely dedicate, and think from the depths of one's heart. Son of a noble family, these are the ten dharmas. The benefits of rejoicing are spoken of in the Prajnaparamita: Whoever rejoices in the initial aspiration of the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas who have entered the Mahayana; rejoices in the conduct of the Bodhisattvas; rejoices in the irreversible Dharma of the irreversible Bodhisattva Mahasattvas, Bhagavan, how much accumulation of merit will that son or daughter of a noble family generate? After asking this, the Bhagavan said to Indra: Kausika, the dust of the three thousand great thousand world systems can be measured with a scale, but Kausika, the merit of the aspiration generated from the sutra of rejoicing of the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas cannot be measured. After saying this, Indra said to the Bhagavan: Bhagavan, some sentient beings, from the initial aspiration of the Bodhisattva Mahasattvas until they attain unexcelled perfect enlightenment and Buddhahood, do not hear, do not understand, do not rejoice, and do not think about the inconceivable nature of the merit arising from rejoicing, those sentient beings are blessed by Mara. Those sentient beings will turn to the side of Mara. The Bhagavan said: Kausika, the vehicle of the Bodhisattva.
