When someone cuts open their body to beg, one should rejoice greatly with the mind of bodhicitta, desiring to practice the conduct of bodhicitta, with the mind not being controlled by feelings, desiring all begging, not hating all acceptance, entering all paths of giving of a bodhisattva, not looking at one's own body, not retreating, and without interruption, giving the blood of one's own body. The mind of the source of wisdom enters the Great Vehicle, which is trust, thinking, being satisfied, being pleased, being content, being happy, being at ease, and being harmonious. Being greatly joyful and devoted, pleased, and with ease arising in the mind. When completely giving flesh from one's own body to beggars, one should give it virtuously, saying with words desiring to beg: 'You need flesh and bones from my body, I will give them to you, take them.' Speaking thus to those beggars, and generating a mind of giving that is incomparably increasing, and being a friend to all virtuous dharmas relied upon by the assembly of wise bodhisattvas, and the supreme intention of removing the defilements of the world, and the great giving embraced by the equality of a bodhisattva, desiring in the mind, for all beggars, with objects of uninterrupted giving, with the cause of the ripening of karma that is extremely discerning, and the offering of the adornment of the Buddha-field that manifests all realms of the world, and the great compassion that protects all beings who are manifestly inclined, and the ten powers of manifesting enlightenment of the Buddhas being practiced accordingly, and for all bodhisattvas who appear in the past, future, and present, using one root of virtue as reverence, and proclaiming the roar of the supreme one and the lion who manifest all fearlessness, and knowing the equality of all times that manifest the three times, and the aspiration of the bodhisattva who strives in the eons of the ultimate limit of the later end that manifests all worlds, and manifesting completely without interruption.

It is because of generating a mind without regret. When a Bodhisattva gives his own heart to beggars, it is learning the types of giving, it is practicing the perfections, it is the mind abiding firmly without being timid in all the giving of Bodhisattvas, it is the mind becoming a support and regarding all beggars as examples, it is completely purifying the superior intention, It is entering into great aspirations in order to fully ripen all beings, it is abiding in the conduct of Bodhisattvas, and it is not abandoning the aspiration to enter into omniscience. Giving the intestines, kidneys, liver, and lungs to those beggars is to be extremely pleased with the beggar, it is the eyes with a joyful appearance, it is the love arising from the Bodhisattva, it is the giving of the mind called "giving," it is the mind of taking the essence by carefully examining it from the body without essence, it is the mindfulness of the body going to the cemetery in the end, it is thinking that the body depends on others, it is the body seized by impermanence, it is practicing the body by thinking of it as food for others, contemplating it as food for jackals, foxes, and dogs. Like this, the Bodhisattva who enters into the contemplation of the Dharma does not blink at those beggars and generates this thought: Even if I give the intestines, kidneys, liver, and lungs of my body to this beggar, or if I do not give them, in the end, when life is exhausted, this is impermanent, and in the end, I will go to the cemetery. Like this, the continuum that is satisfied with contemplation, and the thought of knowing such Dharma, abiding in the thought of a virtuous friend, looking at the beggar, is wanting to take the essence from the body without essence. When someone who desires the Dharma gives his own flesh along with his nails, he also completely nourishes the roots of virtue in that way. After giving the body, giving up enjoyment and merit arises from that. Like this, the place of giving and the receiver of the Bodhisattva are various individuals who come from other directions, and many immeasurable poor and hungry beggars who come hearing the name of the Bodhisattva, and those who have hope in the Bodhisattva.
